http://www.nba.com/encyclopedia/moments/60moments.html Rocket Moments #11 Ralph Sampson Last second Vollyball shot #34 Dreams Game6 block of John Starks #55 Kiss of Death Honerable Mention list: Game 1 VS Orlando : Nick Anderson choke job, Kenny Smith's SEVENTH 3 to send game into overtime, Dream's tip in to win (WHEW!!! all that was one game) Missing. in my opinion Dreams come from behind block of Strickland. Strickland had to have had a 10 foot jump on him. anybody else got anything?
I can think of some great Rockets moments in the playoffs: Hakeem's 49 points, 25 rebound game against the Sonics in the 80s? Yeah, we lost the game, but that was a hell of a performance in an elimination game. Of course, the 31-point second half by Vernon Maxwell against Phoenix in a crucial game 3 -- the birth of "Clutch City" Game 5 against Phoenix in 1995 was also pretty special. Hakeem hits the crucial turnaround jumper to send the game into overtime, in an elimination game. If Hakeem misses that shot, the Rockets would have gone home and the championship would have gone to another team (probably Spurs or Suns). How about the famous baseline move Hakeem did on David Robinson during the Spurs series? Actually, Hakeem's performance in that series, overall, should have been on the list. That way more impressive than most of the stuff that put on there. The Eddie Johnson 3-point game winner in the Utah series was cool (though we eventually lost the series).
Cassell hitting the big three in game 3 in NY in 94. Maxwell hitting the big three near the end of game seven in 94. The entire team effort to win in overtime in game 5 in PHX with Drexler suffering from severe flu symptoms.
durvasa, congrats, you are a true fan. watch out now. people are going to hate you now cause you remember the great momments of the past.
yeah I thought about the 49 and 25 game but sence they lost. But the Dream vs Admeral series should be on here
Kiss of death should have been nearer the top of that list. That was one of the greater moments of my childhood. I walked around for days perfecting, and then giving people the kiss of death.
because we don't like the fact that max quit on the team? hell what he did for us when he was WITH the team was never in question, quitting on the rockets though throughout the season was.
Man these should've made it: Hakeem destroys MVP David Robinson and Moses man-handles Kareem and the defending champion LA Lakers.
he didnt quit throughout the season. he left the organization prematurely in the 1st round of the playoffs. he wasnt happy that he was second fiddle to Clyde. I dont know, maybe it was between him and Clyde. Maybe Drexlers Bar-B-Q hurt Max's stomach. But you have to understand that's Maxwell. He has lots of pride and fire, which is good and bad. Tupac is a good guy, but if you told him that you thought Biggie is better than him, than you'd get beaten down. This is what makes Maxwell a great topic, he's fire drives people in different directions, if you understand it, then you'll love him, if you dont then you'll hate him. Just like that dude who threw beer at Artest, you throw beer at Shawn Bradley, odds are you aren't going to get beat down. Same with Vernon. Its his personality. love it or hate it, he's not going to change it. Its his perogative, he can do what he wants to do!
This game was on espn classic today 87 WC SemiFinals Rockets 125 - Sonics 128 (2 OT). I caught the final 2 mins and OT. Dream was great!!!! 49pt, 25rb, 6 blocks. Constantly double teamed.. there were 2+ guys hanging on his jersey all of OT. If only Sampson made both his FT end of OT1
should be top 10 no doubt. That Laker Team was a dynasty and we took to them! they sent that scrub Kupchak to punch Dream and they both got thrown out of the game. And Robert Reid and Ralph sent them packing in their own house! http://www.clutchfans.net/images/ra_sampson.rm
