checking the NBA.com draft order list, there's a footnote about the no. 13 pick possibly going to Vancouver...what gives?

Three first rounders can trade up. If need be, we can trade our three first rounders this year, plus our three next first rounders to move up to 1. HAHAHA

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?

Paul, we owe Van a #1 for Francis, but I'm under the impression that it is lotto-protected. So, imo, that footnote shouldn't be there. I suppose Van won't refuse if we offer to give it to them even though we don't have to.

The footnote means there is the possibility we can give it to them. But, that's not gonna happen.

well, what if we traded up the draft with the 13, 18, 22 with Vancouver for their pick? Would we still owe them a pick next year?

thanks for the info Juan, Nike. If we don't give it this year, does that mean they get one of our no. 1's eventually?

    Look what I found....

"04/26-MAGIC LOOKING FOR TOP 5 PICK- The NBA held its tie-breakers live on NBA.com TV, the outcome benefited a number of teams including the Orlando Magic, which by virtue of Dallas' win of the tie, received the 14 (their own), 19 (New York's) and 23 (Dallas'). Magic GM John Gabriel said he has every intention of trying to package all 3 picks to move high into the 1st round at least top 5 according to sources, more likely top 3 given who'll likely select there. Gabriel said if he could not find a deal, he would pay the "pick debt" owed to Houston from the Steve Francis trade, and send them the #19 pick. The Magic have made it clear they will look exclusively at big men and point guards in the draft."

I truly hope they can't move up in the draft, so that we still get the pick we are owed.

    ------------------
"...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!"

That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.

Where did you find that... bskball.com? [IMG]

The pick is the 18th in the draft, not the 19th.

Well, technically,it is the 19th pick. The t-pups pick is #18 but since it was taken away from them you can say NY's pick is 18th.

I wonder if this could affect the conditions on the picked owed to detroit(by van),do you still count the timberwolves pick?Clutch (or anyone),if you could answer this you would help a lot because that question mark can change the whole outcome of a trade with van.

Anyway,I think we can be 99.9% sure that a team with a top 5 pick wont let it go so easily so we are still getting that pick.

    The time is now,step up.

oh great, I went there just to see... and sure enough 50 extra windows popped up. [IMG]

Anyways, I wouldn't put too much credence in that website. If they can't even report the tiebreaker correct, a matter of fact, then I wouldn't pay any attention to them.

Besides, Clutch confirmed the report. Is there a chance that the decision could ever be backed out of by the Magic though?
