first of all, this post is not meant to disrespect Rudy T. but i have a coaching triva question that i've been pondering..... Has any Head Coach sucessfully coached 2 completely different generations of the same team to win the championship? Thanks!
exactly! I am wondering if they coached an entirely different generation of players, with out a single existing member from the previous roster, to win a championship.
If you are asking without knowing the answer, then I'm gonna say there hasn't been a coach who's accomplished that. Rudy T said that he wants to be the first and that's good enough for me.
When the Rockets miss the playoffs, I have a feeling that Rudy won't get a chance to be the first... just my opinion...
A Train take a prozak or something. Or go get laid maybe. Something to lighten you up a bit, its not healthy.
no, I dont know the answer, thats why im asking. hmmm... looks like you may have something here pgabriel, it looks like Red Aurbach and the Celtics may have done it. if we could only get the rosters for Red's coaching years.....
Bill Russell was on every championship team coached by Auerbach. Russell then won two titles as player/coach. Tom Heinsohn won a couple of titles in the 70's, then Bill Fitch won a title in '81, and K.C Jones won a couple of titles in '84 and '86 http://www.nba.com/celtics/celtics_history.html

LOL he's already come to my "which nba team wants yao the most" thread and crapped on it. Glad to see I'm not the only one who sees that he needs an attitude adjustment.
