Just bought this game and like it a lot. I'd give it a 8.8 out of 10. But I just tried to beat Jason Williams for three hours in a bring the house down contest and my hand almost fell off. I swear to got that mother sucker cheats. I still haven't beaten the b*stard and have called him a few names to say the least. The rest of the game is a lot of fun tho'.
doesn't one on one basketball get monotonous after a while? it surprises me that they can make a whole game out of it. but i guess they put in groupie chicks, cribs, and bling right? why is jason williams so good? the great white hope of those programmers i guess. i wonder who would actually be the best nba baller... iverson? t-mac? don't like him as a player but ginobli must be awesome at 1 on 1.
I've never played a game like this before. But I like it because of the competition so far. Every game has been tough and you barely survive. I can't really compare to nba street. But my guess is that it's similar because of it's street ball moves. I don't care much for unlockables, but there are over a 1,000, and the cool ones include nba interviews and footage. Francis and Yao Ming included. Reminds me a lot of Tiger Woods Golf 2004. One cool thing about the game is that the game doesn't let you buy skills. You earn them on the court by the way you play. If you take a lot of threes you get better at hitting threes. So on. And it seems to ring true. There are over 75 players too. So you don't get bored playing one on one. Every player poses a different challenge, a different look, and different home court. Right now I'm playing on Pippen's Yacht. arg! The games change too. Jason Williams is not that tough, but you have to beat him in a raise the roof type situation. Jason has so many flashy moves he gets the crowd on his side. And you have to turn them to your side. Arg. Overall I like it a lot. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I do.
Speaking of NBA Street Vol. 2, does anybody know when or if a third will ever come out? I thought the game was great, but where was Hakeem in the legends section? All I wanted was a custom character with Hakeem's jersey, and I'm hoping that maybe this problem will be corrected if and when a third game comes out.
The Street moves are smooth too. Everything flows. The players are the best I've seen. They look good. You earn bling as you go. You can purchase homes, cars, girlfirends, guy friends, clothes, shoes, and all that stuff. I'm wearing the Rockets jersey right now. Francis' home and Yao ming's training ground are available for purchase once you have the bling bling.
when u play as one of the trailblazers do u get to spend that bling on drugs? or get "extras" at strip joints
So you'd say its actually worth purchasing, or more of a game that you rent for a week and play it like crazy.
I'm about one good second opinion away from getting the game for ps2 (do you have the ps2 or Xbox?) do you get to play as the nba guys too? duh edit: checked ign.com and answered my own questions. gonna get it. how's the two player option, if youve tried it?
I played this last night, and it's a definite renter...don't waste your money buying it. It's just NBA Jam, but one on one. The special moves are pretty generic and nowhere near as good as on NBA Street. Or maybe the possibility of buying fake virtual clothes and houses excites you? You'd love it then. It's brainless fun for about 2 hours, but then you'll likely never play it again.
Okay thanks for the tip, I'll probably just rent it when I have time and play the hell out of it. The 24 hour mode in Espn Basketball is quite exquisite.
