I thought this was with Tyson Chandler, however i do not recall that a fight almost happened. I thought Yao just told him that his Tattoo meant something completly different from what he(Chandler) thought.

If you're dumb enough to put permanent chinese characters on your body just because you think it makes you look cool, then you're probably not smart enough to check that the chinese means what you think it means.

This article overreacts it to be sure, but this story does sound like what happened between Yao and Kenyon Martin. There wasn't a fight or anything, but in Yao's book he talked about how K-mart's tattoo translated to "not aggressive" or "indecisive". So Martin got annoyed and said something like, Yao doesn't know what he's talking about or whatever. But nothing really came out of it.

    Seriously??

Martin felt he would know more about chinese characters than someone born and raised in China, who's first language happens to be chinese?

yea it means loyalty. its actually two independent characters combined to make one word.

"middle" and "heart". which means "loyalty"

There are differant dialets of chinese that use the same characters and could be interpreted to mean differant things to differant people. 2,000 year old languages tend to have some variation and subjective interpretation.
