Okay, it's not really Rockets Game Action, but if anybody wanted to work at the NBA's All-Star Jam Session (located in the George R. Brown) - here's the link:

    http://www.nba.com/jamsession/volunteers.html

It's not glamorous work, but I have been to a lot of All-Star games - ALL of the NBA players (and lots of other celebrities) go through Jam Session. Should you be lucky enough to be working one of the attractions during a scheduled appearance - you'll get more interaction with the players than 99% of the fans in the city.

In fact, last year when I was in Denver with Ray Allen - he gave his wristbands (autographed) to the volunteers at the shooting game he was appearing at.

I'm a big Rocket fan and I love the NBA. That being said, I would never work at this thing for free.

What kind of chump volunteers to do free labor just on the chance that he might bump into some NBA players or P. Diddy or whoever? Probably the same kind of loser who waits in line for an hour and pays $25 to get some player to sign a ball. #$%* all of that! Your time may be worthless, but I can think of better ways to spend my life.

It boggles my mind that people will volunteer to pick up trash for the Superbowl or staff carnival booths for the NBA, while the city, the leagues, the teams, and the players are raking in mountains of cash at the very same events. You think they really need volunteers? Nope. But why not use free labor if star-struck suckers are willing to provide it?

You know, I bet that Ray Allen is a nice person with lots of interesting stories to tell. I think it would be great to hang out with him, or somebody like him, for awhile. But work 8 hours just on the hope that he might stop by and smile at me? Maybe toss me his sweatband? Sorry, but he's not that great - no one is. Have some self-respect.

Sort of like volunteering at the Houston SuperBowl but not being allowed in to watch the game.

get over yourself. everyone has different likes and dis-likes but you have "ideas of better ways to spend your life".

some people love to get their favorite players autographs or memorabilia. have some RESPECT for them and try not bash their hobbie or lifestyle. whether its trying to meet a player or what, its volunteer work. maybe these are the same volunteers that helped out this past month with the 2 hurricanes....who are you to disrespect them.

I'm sorry, but if somebody has a like or a hobby that I find crazy or stupid, they're not getting any respect out of me. I mean, a line always has to be drawn somewhere. What if some guy loves paying women to urinate on him? Do I have to respect that? Simply being "different" does not validate a person.

I'm entitled to my opinion, just like everyone else here. And my opinion is that anyone who works for millionaires for free just for the chance to bump into a celebrity is pathetic.

As William Shatner once said, "Get a life!"

Sounds like you've been burned before, or could just "Have some sand in your vagina?" As the famous Eric Cartman once said..
