So I am sitting here playing the Rockets against the Magic in 2K10, and the commentors made this comment that really irritated me. In a comment about Dwight after he made a monster dunk over Scola, the commentator said that Dwight was the new prototype for centers, being a center that has the athleticism of a much smaller player. Ok I can agree with Dwight, but new prototype? Pfft! Does the 2K staff not realize that Olajuwon would be the real prototype? The Dream was an athletic big (played like a guard) who also could actually shoot (very well) on top of that.
Clark Kellogg is an idiot. He says some really dumb stuff in the game. Stuff like Chris Paul is "probably" the best PG and is only a half-step ahead of Deron. Really Clark? "Probably"?
has anyoned play on NBA Today? pretty cool, they comment on the last previous game...i played the warriors game prior to tipoff of the actual game and they commented on the rockets bad FG percentage against the blazers, Aaron brooks coming off of a 19point performance, they also went around the league and talked about the scores from Boston and Cleveland as well as the other games that happened...it is really cool.

That sounds awesome! Dwight is a prototype... Olajuwon was quicker, better feet, hands, blah-blah-blah. Howard can play defensive line. Hakeem couldn't. Howard is a freak. Chamberlain won the high jump in college & worked out with The Terminator so maybe you put Wilt in that category. Yes Hakeem is the better center but Howard is something else.
So its not ok to be annoyed at something stupid in a video game about our Rox and bring it up? It is not like I am calling for boycotts or anything. Jeez... talk about uptight individuals.
I am not sure where you are trying to go with this... Anything Howard can do defensively, so could Hakeem and much better at that.
Dont worry...in the My Player mode, they talk about Olajuwon. As your a young and up and coming player, they give quotes from some of the NBA's greatest players like Magic, Kidd, etc. They make some comment about Olajuwon using his soccer skills to become a great basketball player. ....and Dwight is the current NBA proto-type. Sorry, fact.
Defensive line in football. Prototype-freak as in Howard is some kind of cyborg. Olajuwon the better defender in basketball? Hell ya.
Alright thanks for clearing up my confusion there. My question though, how can Dwight be considered a prototype when Hakeem set the standard for small athletic center long before that. While Dwight can jump out the building, that makes him a remarkable physical speciman as opposed to a prototype. Prototype means a preceding standard for future generations to be based off of and future centers are more likely to be based off of Hakeem than Dwight.
I would just get over it ziggy, I don't agree with all sorts of stuff...actually i played NBA today when the game first came out and they kept saying "The rockets have still yet to win in the pre-season!" Now that obviously was wrong but oh well, it's a game.
