NBA Mock Draft 1. LA Clippers- Blake Griffin PF Oklahoma Get the best player in the draft that they should start rebuilding around 2. Memphis Grizzlies- Ricky Rubio PG Spain This may be the toughest choice in the draft. Do the Grizzlies believe that Hasheem Thabeet is the next Dikembe Mutombo or Manute Bol? Do they believe that Mike Conley is there point guard? or do they believe that Ricky Rubio is a star and is ready to be the leader of their team? I think Thabeet is a better fit but Rubio is too good to pass up. Bye Bye Mike Conley. 3. Oklahoma City Thunder- Hasheem Thabeet C UCONN The Thunder will be very happy no matter what. They can use either Rubio or Thabeet but once again, Thabeet is the better fit. The Thunder have no true center so he'll fit right in. 4. Sacramento Kings- Brandon Jennings PG Italy Spencer Hawes and Jason Thompson are both young and have lots of potential. They have both averaged close to 11-7. They have Francisco Garcia and Kevin Martin at the wings. At the point? Bobby Jackson and Beno Udrih. They need a point guard here and the best after Rubio is probably Jennings. This is probably a bit of a reach but this is a major need for the Kings. 5. Washington Wizards- James Harden SG Arizona State I don't really understand the Wizards. How can one team go from being so good to so awful? If Arenas could just stay healthy they could easily be a top 3 team in the East. Arenas, Butler, Jamison. Thats 3 all stars right there. Then you got Brendan Haywood who is good and Nick Young, Deshawn Stevenson and Andray Blatche off the bench. They probably need another big guy behind Haywood and Jamison but Harden is too good to pass up at this point. A HEALTHY line up of Arenas, Harden, Butler, Jamison and Haywood could possibly compete for a top 3 spot in the East. 6. Minnesota T-Wolves- DeMar DeRozan SG USC Minnesota is pretty set at the post with Jefferson and Love. Telfair and Foye have both picked it up at the guard position and Ryan Gomes has been a pleasant surprise. Mike Miller was also pretty surprising. He only averaged 10 points a game. When they traded for him, he was suppose to be putting up 20 a night. Hes gone in a year so they get DeMar who will take his spot. 7. Golden State Warriors- Stephen Curry PG Davidson It seems just yesterday that Golden State and Baron Davis were taking down the Dallas Mavericks. Well the Warriors let B Diddy get away and what happens? They become awful. Monta Ellis can't run the point. He needs to be at shooting guard. Stephen Curry can handle the ball and shoot which is basically all the Warriors will ask of him. Curry, Ellis, Jackson, Morrow, Bierdnes doesn't seem too shabby especially when you got Azubuike, Turiaf, and Maggette coming off the bench. 8. New York Knicks- Jordan Hill PF Arizona The Knicks are in a tough spot now. They were hoping either Curry or Jennings would fall to them here but instead they are "stuck" with Jordan Hill. Hes perfect for D'Antonis offense. Hes athletic and fast and will be a lot like Amare Stoudamire. Hes a bit taller than David Lee so he would most likely play center. This would allow Al Harrington to move to the wing and Wilson Chandler will become 6th man. Unless Isiah Thomas comes back, I see New York making a playoff run. Hill will also be a nice duo with Lebron in 2010. 9. Toronto Raptors- Tyreke Evans SG Memphis Tyreke is a one year wonder and it will be interesting to see if he can make a smooth transition. He likes to have the ball in his hand so it will be intresting to see if he can let Calderon control the ball. This is a good fit for Toronto with Shawn Marion and Anthony Parker both being FA. 10. Milwaukee Bucks- Jrue Holldiay PG UCLA This pick all depends on whether or not the Bucks sign back Ramon Sessions and Charlie Villanueva. If Sessions signs back but Villanueva doesn't then they probably go with James Johnson but if Villanueva signs back and Sessions doesn't then they go Jrue. If both or neither sign back then I see them go BPA which would be Jrue. 11. New Jersey Nets- James Johnson PF Wake Forest The Nets can go in many different directions here. They could pick for rebuilding (which would mean a wing to replace VC) or pick for competition (which would most likely be a big man) I think that Thorn will want to make NJ better so it looks more enticing for Lebron. Thats why they go with James Johnson. Hes the best player available and he fills a big need in post next to Brooke Lopez. 12. Charlotte Bobcats- Gerald Henderson SG Duke The Bobcats have absolutely nobody at shooting guard behind Raja Bell. This is their only major need. It was tough decision between Gerald Henderson and Terrance Williams. Terrance is a better player but more of a point forward. The Bobcats already have a stack at point guard with Felton and Augustin. They don't need anymore. 13. Indiana Pacers- Johnny Flynn PG Syracuse The Pacers are losing Jarrett Jack and Travis Diener to free agency and are getting rid of Jamal Tinsley which leaves just TJ Ford at the point. TJ Ford is good but he can't play the whole game and he has a history of injuries. Flynn flew up draft boards towards the end of the season. 14. Phoenix Suns- Tyler Hansbrough PF UNC The Suns may lose Grant Hill and Matt Barnes to free agency which leaves a major need at the wing. Hansbrough is the perfect pick here. He is very athletic post who can play the wing. If the Suns decided to trade away Shaq the could have a lineup thats very similar to there lineup they had in the good ol days. Nash, Barbosa, Richardson, Hansbrough, Stoudamire. 15. Detroit Pistons- Earl Clark SF Louisville Detroit is most likely going to lose Rasheed Wallace and Antonio Mycdess to free agency but they still have Jason Maxiell and Amir Johnson. The problem with them though is neither of them have height. I'm tempted to put BJ Mullens here but hes just not good enough. He has proved nothing. Earl Clark is very good and could be a top 3 player on the team if the Pistons decide to rebuild (which it looks like there leaning towards doing) 16. Chicago Bulls- BJ Mullens C Ohio State Many people have Blair penciled in here which I don't understand. The Bulls have 1 7footer and thats Brad Miller. Miller likes to play outside but he is a good rebounder. He plays like more of a power forward though. Mullens will have to learn for a year or two but I think Brad Miller could be a very good mentor for him and possibly help him with his shot. 17. Philadelphia 76ers- Ty Lawson PG UNC Andre Miller and Royal Ivey are both free agents which leaves just Lou Williams at the PG. Lou is more of a shooting guard which gives Philly even more of a need at the point. Ty Lawson is a good scorer like Miller and he distributes the ball. 18. Minnesota T-Wolves (From Miami Heat)- Austin Daye SF Gonzaga Minnesota already filled their need at the wing now they need a big man off the bench behind Jefferson and Love. Unfortunately for them the only 7footer that has 1st round potential is BJ Mullens and the Bulls already tooks him. Theyll go BPA but at least they get some height outta it since Daye is 6-10 19. Atlanta Hawks- Eric Maynor PG Virginia Commonwealth Mike Bibby is on his way out leaving a hole at the point unless Atlanta trust Acie Law and Ronald Murray. 20. Utah Jazz- Derrick Brown PF Xavier Carlos Boozer and Paul Millsap are both free agents and the Jazz are more than likely to lose one of them. Some may think Blair is the pick here but he doesn't really fit in with the Jazz. Brown is a better fit. Hes more athletic and has an outside game like Boozer. 21. New Orleans Hornets- Sam Young SG Pittsburgh New Orleans doesn't have a big need here except for maybe center since Tyson Chandler is probably going to be traded but there are no good centers. They could use another shooting guard unless theres something they know about Rasual Butler that we dont. 22. Dallas Mavericks- Jeff Teague PG Wake Forest Jason Kidd is on the move leaving JJ Barea and Jason Terry at the point but both of them are better at the 2 position. 23. Sacramento Kings (From Houston Rockets)- Dejuan Blair PF Pittsburgh They already got their point guard and now they get a post off the bench behind Thompson and Hawes. Blair is a steal at this point. 24. Portland Trail Blazers- Patrick Mills PG St.Mary's They got Bayless last year but hes more of a shooting guard then a point guard. Steve Blake is good but he needs some help from the bench. 25. Oklahoma City Thunder (From San Antonio Spurs)- Terrence Williams SF Louisville Oklahoma City has an obvious need for a center but none are worth taking at 25. BPA 26. Chicago Bulls (From Denver Nuggets)- Wayne Ellington SG UNC The Bulls already picked up a big man so now they need a shooter to fill the shoes of Ben Gordon. Wayne Ellington is Ben Gordon V2 27. Memphis Grizzlies (From Orlando Magic)- Chase Budinger SG Arizona Memphis already picked up a big man so they don't really have any big needs. They just need some players that can help them rebuild. 28. Minnesota T-Wolves (From Boston Celtics)- Josh Heytvelt PF Gonzaga With no center still worth taking the T-Wolves take the best big man available. Heytvelt is 6-11 so at least he has some height. 29. LA Lakers- Omri Casspi SF/PF Israel Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza could leave via free agency. Heck, even Kobe could. It is obvious the Lakers need a wing. Omri is a lot like Lamar Odom. He sets up a mismatch. Hes too big to be guarded by most wings but hes also too fast to be guarded by a post. 30. Cleveland Cavaliers- Gani Lawal PF Geogia Tech Cleveland could lose Big Z, Joe Smith, and Verajao via free agency. They will pick up the best big man available. 2ND ROUND 1. Sacramento Kings- Dajuan Summers SF Georgetown 2. Washington Wizards- Nick Calathes PG Florida 3. Portland Trailblazers (From Los Angles Clippers)- Damion James SF/PF Texas 4. Denver Nuggets (From Oklahoma City Thunder)- Toney Douglas PG/SG Florida State 5. Detroit Pistons (From Minnesota Timberwolves)- Jeff Pendergraph PF Arizona State 6. Memphis Grizzlies- Demarre Carroll PF Missouri 7. San Antonio Spurs (From Golden State Warriors)- Victor Claver SF Spain 8. Portland Trailblazers (From New York Knicks)- Danny Green SG/SF UNC 9. Detroit Pistons (From Toronto Raptors)- Marcus Thorton SG LSU 10. Charlotte Bobcats (From New Jersey Nets)- Taj Gibson PF USC 11. Milwaukee Bucks- Luke Harangody PF Notre Dame 12. Los Angles Lakers (From Charlotte Bobcats)- Jodie Meeks SG Kentucky 13. Miami Heat (From Indiana Pacers)- Jonas Jerekbo SF Sweden 14. Detroit Pistons- Jack McClinton PG Miami 15. Minnesota Timberwolves (From Philadelphia 76ers)- Nando De Colo PG France 16. Cleveland Cavaliers (From Chicago Bulls)- Vyacheslav Kravtsov C Ukraine 17. Minnesota Timberwolves (From Miami Heat)- Luke Nevill C Utah 18. Phoenix Suns- Greivis Vasquez SG/SF Maryland 19. Atlanta Hawks- Leo Lyons PF Missouri 20. Utah Jazz- Jon Brockman PF Washington 21. San Antonio Spurs (From New Orleans Hornets)- Lee Cummard SG BYU 22. Indiana Pacers (From Dallas Mavericks)- Goran Suton C Michigan State 23. San Antonio Spurs (From Houston Rockets)- Patrick Beverly PG Ukraine 24. Charlotte Bobcats (From San Antonio Spurs)- Paul Harris SG Syracuse 25. Portland Trailblazers (From Denver Nuggets)- Mac Koshwal C Depaul 26. Portland Trailblazers- AJ Price PG Connecticut 27. Phoenix Suns (From Orlando Magic)- Curtis Jerrells PG Baylor 28. Boston Celtics- Dionte Christmas SF Temple 29. Los Angles Lakers- Rodrigue Beaubois PG France 30. Miami Heat (From Cleveland Cavaliers)- Milan Macvan PF Serbia
No way Hansborough goes that high. No way Dejuan Blair goes that low. Other than that it looks very good.
on pick 27, i think you messed up the analysis, you said memphis already picked up a big man, but they chose thabeet
One day of predraft measurements will NOT destroy four years of scouting. Tyler Hansbrough is way too high.
You meant they chose Rubio, hence the mistake in the analysis.Sorry,my mistake I see what you mean, but the OP put down Rubio.
Why is Terrance Williams falling from possibly being a better player than Henderson all the way down to 25?
phoenix would pick lawson over hansborough they've been trying to find a legit backup to nash for some time now i can see lawson filling that role
I admit that I overrated Jordan Hill,he is like Wilcox which isn't bad,but I don't think OKC will go for him as I did initially. I have Harden at #3.
