The thing that I don't get is he's rich but still left his mother, father, sisters, and brothers living in a third world country?

Maybe they didn't want to move? Sometimes, older parents don't like the idea of uprooting their family to move to another country.

It's a nice donation. It's chump change compared to former Rocket Mutombo's donation and work for the Congo hospital.

    Mutombo was a true humanitarian.

You sound rather cynical, but you might be on to something.

I wonder how many NBA players gave $100,000 to rebuild New Orleans after Katrina?

don't be so quick to pass judgement. My bet is he will travel back and forth over the offseason and will continually give. the value of this donation is inconsequential.

There's no reason to assume he's limiting his contributions to this one, single donation. It may be the first of many.

Not complaining but I would want my immediate family to be comfortable if I were in his shoes, who knows maybe you're right.

As a frame of reference, Yao initially donated $70,000 to the Chinese earthquake victims and was criticized for the size of his donation. He eventually upped that to $2M and started a foundation to rebuild the schools in his country. I hope Dalembert is planning to do a lot more because he certainly is able to.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't, that is the way life is nowadays in the fast world of the internet. I am just happy lots of people will be helping out in a time of dire need.

Dalembert has earned around 50 million for his career, and is earning about 12 million this year.

We don't know the details of what he may be planning, but at this point I'm not blown away by his generosity. I think if he made a very large donation(millions), it may spur others on to follow his lead. Since he is one of his nations wealthiest and most famous citizens I hope he does all he can to help his people.

LOL at the people saying he's being "cheap". Not a single one of you could even donate 1% of that, and you're calling him cheap.

Like people have said, Dalembert will probably continue to donate, and this will probably be the first of his contributions in Haiti.
