KBerg_CBS Ken Berger Bobcats also have dealt Nazr Mohammad to OKC for Mo Peterson and D.J. White, sources say. Surprised nobody posted this.
Speaking for myself, and likely the 59 other posters who have viewed this thread, I can tell you that the reason why we didn't post it or comment is that our first thought was not: "wow Nazr Muhammed dealt" - it was "wow, Nazr Muhmmed is still in the League? "
I saw the trade as insurance for OKC - if Nick Collison's bigger twin brother doesn't get his **** together. And a minor salary dump to help re-sign Perkins this offseason - DJ White was due 2 million next year. MoPete and Nazr are both expiring @6million.
I would have posted if the forum weren't constantly busy until recently. Nazr isn't very good but for a championship team that has Cole Aldrich as it's backup Center, it's probably an upgrade.
I think OKC have to get an A for trade deadline acquisitions. Filled needs at the 4 and 5 and Nazr is not a bad veteran backup C to have.
hahahaha i was JUST about to ask if he was still playing or if they traded a body haven't watched ANY charlotte games and i dont think i ever will.
Ibaka? He can block, dunno if he is a good one one on one defender though. I assume they will play him and Perkins, and have Nazr as a 3rd 5, right?
probably because 90% of the BBS doesnt know who those players are. i only know mo peterson. is he this guy? <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GNvdhCMYih4?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GNvdhCMYih4?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>
This season alone, Ibaka has gone from a very bad post defender to decent. I can't begin to tell you how much progress he's made. But his best position is PF, for now. He will gain weight and move to C as he gets older. By that time, I think he will be a force in the NBA. He's also got much more offensive game than people out there realize. Scott Brooks has to unleash him a bit more. Last season, Brooks wouldn't let him shoot the jumper. You had to watch the Thunder full-time to see it and it was clear the guy could shoot. This year, Brooks won't let Ibaka post up unless it's garbage time, which the Thunder rarely have because...[long explanation]. I'll say it again: Ibaka is going to explode on the NBA. This season, next season or the year after. It is coming.
Bro, you watch the Thunder quite a bit. Apart from last nights brain fart in which he forgot with the game on the line that he should pass the ball to KD, what do you think about Jeff Green's BBIQ?
What I like most about Ibaka is he has the mixture of good B-ball IQ, gym rat, hard working mentality and intensity on the court. Put all those together in a big man and there's no way you're not gonna explode in the league. The Thunder are freakin' amazing. Too bad I'm a Rockets fan and not an OKC fan.
Thankfully it will now be the Celtics problem, though he won't be hoisting up 4-5 3-pointers per game in Boston or KG will send him to the showers. In the shot selection arena and knowing one's own limitations on offense, Jeff Green had a low b-ball IQ.
Underrated move. Nobody seemed to ever notice Nazr since he played on the fricken Bobcats but he's quietly been putting up solid numbers for a couple years now. This is an example of the type of move that won't draw much attention when the transaction actually happens yet come playoff time people are going to start asking "Wait a minute. When did they get this guy?".
