I'd be in jail if this was my daughter. One of the worst stories you will ever read. People always wonder what's wrong with kids today. It's their ****ing parents.
yeah that's pretty messed up. started out thinking "another myspace thing" and then thinking "yeah, words can hurt people, what's new?"...and then the real story comes halfway through it.
Each of those adults should be on trial for murder. Destroying a fragile child's psyche can be just as bad as molesting or physically harming them.
Very immature of the parents who did this, but it is also hard to blame them for her death. Kids grow up hearing cruel things from other kids all the time, doesn't mean they should go hang themselves. This girl obviously had issues to begin with, the N in her name stood for neglected, correct? I'd point more of the blame towards her own parents possibly, if I knew the whole story.
Ugh.. what a sad story. Anyway for short. - Girl has ADD and has suffered from depression and self-esteem issues. Seeing a therapist. - Guy contacts her via myspace, showers her with some compliments, and then all of a sudden starts saying really mean and slanderous crap and posting it. - Girl commits suicide. Later find out that the "guy" was really a fake account set up by an estranged friend and her parents. (yes the parents were also posting under the account - the worst part of this mess)
MySpace ruins lives..... Its just not regulated the way it should be. I dont understand how you can hang yourself in the closet - I mean - how would you do that? How would you know how to do that if you were a 13 year old girl?
It's easier to read about how a guy chops off peoples heads and wears them as a hat. They're criminally insane. This...it doesn't make any sense. It's revolting. How could a parent do something like that to a child, even if it wasn't theirs? I wonder, of all the people who had access to that account, which one was talking to her the night she died and said those awful things.
These people that grow up and live in small towns (in the modern day)... Adult or not. They often never shed the internal need for attention, gossip, and meddling in the lives of others. They live for this kind of thing (not killing, but creating fake accts and such). Its hard for me to explain. Just think of a small town as a high school, each person still struggling for attention and "fame". Its the most ridiculous thing you will ever see. Thank god I grew up in Houston...
Most people would have done a lot worse to those stupid parents. It is sad how much damage they have done.
That is disgusting. Unfortunately, working with adults every day, I see many never have more than a 7th grade mentality about relationships and vendettas. Many adults are just as capable of being hateful as this story. I've not seen it come to those specific results in another case, but I am aware of several instances where the parents of one child attack another minor with words - to the point of severe depression and suicidal thoughts. I have been attacked by some of these kind of parents for defending the kids in question. Why does society insist on growing up without maturation? Our system wants kids to grow up, without holding adults to the same standard. The entire media and retail industry wants every adult to relive their youthful days through products and fashion, but it ends up driving people back into a pre-pubescent mentality, I suppose. Grow up people, take responsibility. Remember, you must remember, you must be the adult in the situation. These "adults" in question should face criminal charges including harming a minor, abuse to a minor and even negligent manslaughter, or any manner of charges that get to that general end. Seriously, what do the adults get from it to do these types of things to a kid? It's the proverbial bully mentality... like a high-schooler picking on a kindergartener. Oh and A-Train, this is not the time to be funny. And don't have kids until you can discern those things.
That kid was on the tipping point, but those neighbors, knowing she was depressed, are low human beings. Had it not have been a friend who was also involved, I doubt they would've came forward and confessed about their internet prank. Myspace drama is very common, and it'd be very hard to pin any legal blame on the neighbors. It's very unfortunate the girl had to suffer from chronic depression that young an age.
