    1. Lebron
    2. Kobe
    3. Wade
    4. Paul
    5. Rubio
    6. Bosh
    7. Amare
    8. Melo
    9. Roy
    10. Durant

I feel fairly confident of my top 6. But after that I've got questions about who Morey really likes. I put Amare on there because of the alleged deal at the trade deadline that he would have supposedly done if Amare would have been willing to take a physical and/or agree to a contract extension.

    Who do you say?

I think Durant should be higher on this list. In the 5-6 range IMO.

Um, if any person on planet earth on June 25, 2010, would prefer to add Ricky Rubio than Kevin Durant to their NBA team, they either have not watched more than 15 minutes of basketball in their life or need to be checked into an institution.

I like Rubio as a talent, too, but my goodness that's ridiculous.

how about a list of logical targets Morey might be considering.

    1. Resign Yao
    2. Bosh (making him a priority to appeal to his ego is critical, also less ego/diva problems like T-mac/Lebron/Kobe)
    3. Miller
    4. Al J.
    5. Rubio
    6. Rudy Fernandez (this may have changed since last night)
    7. Paul Pierce
    8. some international player who will suck like David Andersen
    9. another international player who will suck like David Andersen
    10. Bionic Hakeem

Interesting comment and good point. I happen to believe that Morey values superior point guard play over wing scoring. Durant is a wing scorer, a great wing scorer, I might add. I happen to believe Morey values a point guard that can both score efficiently and facilitate a team more than he does wing scorers. JMO

Didn't want to include any Rockets. I think Morey still considers Yao as part of this group until he proves otherwise. Perhaps Howard and Rondo should be on this list as well as DWill.

If both were elite, I'd agree. If you listen to Morey, however, the only constant this guy has in his philosophy is to acquire elite players when you can. He's said it over and over again - this league comes down to having All-Star talent, and it's why he's positioned himself so well with all these assets to make a run at a marquee free agent.

Durant is clearly one of the top five - and maybe the top three - players in the entire NBA. He's proven top of the line. Rubio is a prospect, and with that comes uncertainty. I think Durant is a slightly better player than Chris Paul, but could see an argument for potentially valuing Paul a slot ahead if you prioritize superior point guard play. But regardless of position, Daryl Morey would never turn down a known elite player (well, a young one at least) for a prospect. Proven All-Star talent, regardless of position, is always Morey's top priority, imo.

Obviously he wouldn't turn down an elite player. The question is who does he consider those elite players. Durant is not really available right now. Some of the others, like Kobe aren't really available. But I'm sure if Morey could acquire them, he would.
