What do you guys think about name brand products versus the off brand or cheaper product versions of the same thing? When it comes to food I have noticed that the off brand is just as good if not better in almost everything. There are some exceptions such as colas. Now the fruit flavored soft drinks taste almost as good as the name brand except they are a tad bit sweeter to me. Frozen treats such as ice cream are also better when it comes from a name brand company. Medicine, well I buy all my medicine and body supplies name brand and not off brand so I can't make a fair comparison in that department. What do you guys think about the cheaper products versus the name brand ones.

My wife is a chemist at a pharmeceutical company and she always gets generic drugs. Once the patent expires for a drug then generic drug makers can copy it exactly so there is no need to pay more for exactly the same thing.

That's what I'm talking about. Equate never seems to work as good as Tylenol, Advil, etc.

Yeah, for the most part, I can't tell the difference, so I usually buy off-brand stuff. It definitely saves money. I even jumped the ship, and started buying the fake cereal, too. The price difference was just too much for a person like me who LOVES cereal, and I can't taste a difference in the cereal that I prefer.

All in all, the only thing i can think of off the top of my head that I refuse to by off-brand stuff is shoes. Payless is not my style! :)
