I think Najera is a good fit for the Rockets: 1. He is a nice PF 2. he fits very well with the JVG system 3. good defensive player, athletic, with a lot of energy Not a FA, but we can give sth like Spoon, and Moochie for him, or somethin like that. What do you think?
1) Why would Denver take a bad contract (Weatherspoon/Norris) for a much more deserved contract (Najera)? It doesn't make any sense 2) Good fit to do what? Mop up/back up duty? Sure You gave me a heart atttack for a second. I thought you were implying that he would be our starting PF
Najera would be a good addition. He'd be our Ryan Bowen but is a lot tougher and can rebounder. What about: Wesley for Najera straight up? Denver needs another SG and we can always use a hustling big man.
I was kinda pissed we traded him initially, and thought the Rockets could use a guy to give a hard foul for years. However Najera is injury prone and is overpayed for another 2 or 3 years for what he does even when healthy. Denver would gladly take Wesley (expiring contract and better player) for him, probably Spoon strait up too. I'd probably want a 2nd rounder + Spoon or a conditional (top 20 protected?) 1st rounder + Wesley to take on Najera, not that I am entirely against the idea of it.
I dont want another guy who "hustles". We need more talent on this team plain and simple. Having guys like Bowen and Najera is good in the regular season when the team might need an energy boost but come playoff time these guys lose their effectiveness because EVERYONE is playing with more intensity and hustle. Pass on Najera.
Najera hustles like Bowen but has a little more talent and is a lot nastier. Good guy to respond to cheap shots to Yao or Tmac, Bowen just isn't that guy. So I would take Najera as a 10th man over Bowen or Padget. Still for that contract, I want a 1st or 2nd rounder for my trouble.
