I know I can be proven incorrect by a lot of you basketball experts, but I think developing Boki will prove to be the missing piece.... Why? Well, it seems like with Yao and Steve on the floor at the same time, there will almost always be an open man. I would like one of the open guys to be Euro-trained with good decision making and a consistent 3. Boki is our man. And a little more inside game from Eddie wouldn't hurt.
I could not agree with you more. As long as Nachbar is healthy, there is no reason why he should not get some garbage minutes. Especially after we make that trade I keep on hearing about...
Maybe so. KT has been good defensively and rebounded well as our 3 but he has been a square peg in a round hole on offense. Rice is not the future even if he finds his shot. TMo? Who knows. I don't know when but Boki could become the Starter at some point although I just don't see it happening this season. Boki would just love to find his way into the rotation before the year is out.
We definately needed someone to get hot out there last night. If he can develope a consistant shot (which seems to be a Euro specialty) I'd like to see him getting some of Rice's minutes. We'll have to see if he has any D in him.
thing is...he does have a shot...I'm of the belief that his preseason problems were the exception and not the rule.. The man has some serious shooting skills, he just needs to comeout on the floor and prove it.. With the current shooting slump going on, I find myself really wishing TMo would come back, he at least provides the defensive capabilities we need with a decent shooting percentage.. I have a sinking feeling that KT wont be back next year...and Rice is a 10 minute man at best..We really need Boki and TMo to fill it up from the SF position...either one of them can light it up on any given night..
I was thinking today that we need some length at the three who can do one of the following: (1) drain an open shot or (2) create a mismatch with his handles given that this player has the heighth to flash a hand in a shooter's face when he pulls up...That's all I want for Christmas. Although, I'm on record as hoping that the Rockets bring in a player by the name of Odom, I think the development of BOKI could be the missing ingredient. Watching last night's game, I doubt anyone could guard Dirk with much success, but someone who makes him work on the defensive end is the key. BOKI nailing his shots from the wing, or giving a quick pump and then putting the ball on the floor, shooting past Dirk's airborn 7' body, would likely give Dirk something to think about. As I look down the road a bit, Dallas is going to be there, we are going to be there. It's about matchups and IMO we will need another weapon. Too early to be hasty, and the answer may be the development of BOKI, but there's only a few tradeable pieces of our puzzle. We'll have to maximize any moves and capitalize on the market if we can upgrade. Offhand comment and I may get flamed but: I doubt Kenny will ever help us much against Dallas being that he is as vertically challenged as he is (tongue-in-cheek). KT is strong and can put on a clinic on many nights against shorter players, but he is near useless against Dallas. Now if Golden State were the team that we were gunning for, KT would be invaluable. They are not, will never be, so let's look for a move that would give us another matchup problem or some perimeter d.
