was in a bar a while ago (suprise!) and was talking about how impersonal people have become these days. somehow or another myspace was brought up. since when did it become the ultimate insult in the history of the universe to delete someone as a friend off of myspace? it's like second to not being in someone's top 8. i've heard several people mention this as if you're crucifying jesus all over again. wtf? this social networking is getting out of control. friendster, then myspace, then yahoo 360, and now microsoft is coming up with something. ugh.
it's downright stupid. especially people who get upset b/c you took them off the top 8. it's cool that you get in touch with old friends you haven't spoken to or seen in years but truth is, they're just acquantenses (sp?, can't believe i forgot how to spell that).
double edged sword, as we've all realized by now. half the time i'm glad it's there for one reason or another, and the other half i wish it never existed. *sigh* as far as solving the top 8 dilemma, i know one of my friends on there just doesn't have a top 8 at all...it doesn't show up. not a bad idea for minimizing sandy vaginas among overly sensitive myspace buddies. not sure what kind of code is needed to pull that off though.
I have a real funny thing about MySpace. On the band page, I'll add pretty much anyone. On my personal page, it is only people that I know personally and who I speak with regularly (or fairly regularly). I have gone from a few hundred people when I started down to around 50. It just makes it easier for me to keep up with people who I communicate with through MySpace and, generally, only MySpace or friends I know well. As for my Top 8, they rotate with a few of them (my closest friends) always remaining in the first 2 or 3 spots.
For some reason, I like using myspace at work. But when I'm at home, i'm like eh... My page looks half done all the time.
So, am I the only person in the world in his 20's who doesn't have a myspace, facebook, or something of the sort?
Yes. I found the first girl who ever gave me a BJ on MySpace. I was only 13 or 14 at the time, so I really didn't care, but damn was she ugly.
I went through this once with RIET: dammit, if you're going to quote me, I sure as hell want the credit! A "-Lynus302" at the end or at the bottom of that would be nice. ThAnK YoU.
Haha no you are absolutely not the only one, I find facebook somewhat acceptable (if you are in college), but myspace seems very stalker friendly (no offense to all the stalkers out there). I have neither and seem to keep up with my friends quite easily using simply email and a phone.
i have a myspace... i don't buy into the weight of deleting friends and/or changing your top 8. although i know some idiots who take it seriously...to those people i say "deleted". mwahahaha.
There's so much friend spam and people who feel obligated to post at least 20 bulletins a day on MySpace that booting people off of a friend's list is necessary at times.
I was working in Little Rock and some guy named Osama saw my show wanted to add me as a friend. It got me wondering if while everyone is looking for Osama in Iraq somewhere, he may be working at a Kinkos in Arkansas. ....or at least that's how the jokes goes...
ive been wondering the same thing... how is it that in a period of two years, our culture has a new set of vocabulary terms that revolve around the myspace phenomenon? theres not a day that goes by that I dont hear someone on the street or in public talking about their myspace account... I saw a business man in a suit get off the train, and his colleage screams at him, "Myspace me!" it was surreal which leads to the original question revolving around "myspace drama" there are people that actually get in arguments over this stuff, friends asking other friends why they didnt approve their comment, why they erased their photo comment, why they removed them off their top 8, or the big daddy of all, deleting someone from their friends list... a friend was asking me to check in on a buddy of ours who had been dumped by his girl...he was stalking her every move on myspace, every comment someone else made he would analyze it, and he would leave her comments on her page that basically said "Im still in love with you" so the girl deletes him from her friends list and makes her profile private so that he can't follow her online activity... and its like the **** had hit the fan... this is what friendships and relationships are based on now...
