I was about to say hooray...but then wade said they are going to try to re-sign him again. eh. Don't know his number from this season, so really not much to say. This season was almost a blur to me...so many things going on in my life, and the streaks!
Brocail doesn't deserve to get paid 3.25 million after how he stunk it up the 2nd half of the season.
It's the right move by Wade and the Astros. Brocail was money early in the season, but he was very much overworked. He showed it in a big way after the All-Star break. Going into next season @ 42 with his workload is not something that begs for confidence. Re-sign Hawkins and try to bring Brocail back at a discounted rate. If he declines, he can go right on back to the Padres again. Between Valverde, Geary, Hawkins, Byrdak, and Sampson, I feel pretty good about the state of the pen.
I wouldn't want him for 3.25, but for the season he was the 2nd best guy behind Geary. Who do you guys think we can get to replace him and Hawkins who will give us sub 4 ERA for the season? Can we get Joe Beimel? Juan Cruz?
