This guy, in my opinion, doesn't get enough pub for what he brings. I know it's because he plays for a crappy team and there are guys like Swift and Chandler who steal the show, but this guy is a stud IMO. I do not see a way for the Rockets to land that pefect PF this offseason but, signing him this offseason as a backup to Howard, would solve all the Rocket's problems from that position. He could eventually become the starter. Check this out: Ranked 7th in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds (261) Ranks #9 in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds Per Game(3.2) Ranks #1 in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(7.0) Ranks #6 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(11.1) Ranks #2 in the NBA in Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(18.1) Ranks #18 in the NBA in Blocks Per 48 Minutes(2.85) Ranks #17 in the NBA in Efficiency Ranking Per 48 Minutes(28.78) He is long, athletic, runs like a guard and is still semi-young. Plus, would cost much cheaper then guys like Chandler or Swift. The Rockets would have good backup PF who could move over and play center in certain situations or if Deke is injured.
Nice research mogrod. The guy sounds pretty serviceable to me and would probably fly under the radar. How old is he by the way?
Is he unrestricted? I'd be thrilled if we could pick him up, but I'm a little concerned a team might be willing to give him more than we can or that he would choose Milwaukee over us if the money was the same.
Yes lets get another dutch player, it worked out great the last time seriously, i would love to have Dan in a rocket uniform(even if the only reason was that i would be able to see more rockets basketbal on dutch tv). He is a good defensive player and he knows his role.
I like Gadzuric's game. But so do the Bucks and he's restricted. The Bucks will throw money at Redd first but should have enough cap room left to out bid the Rox.
I saw UCLA in the NCAA Regionals here a few years ago: Dan Gadzurik, Earl Watson, Jason Kapono... I'd like to get them all in a Rockets uni next season. Wouldn't that be an interesting sidebar story?
Gadzuric is similar to what we had when we had Cato. Basically a C playing PF. I like how Gad is physical and atheltic. But I would question his ability to play the "new breed" of PFs these days, those long and quick ones. Gad would be great to have when we play the Spurs, but might be more exposed when we play the Mavs and the Suns etc. Also Gad has NO outside shot. Basically every team would double Yao with Gad's man much like when we had Cato. Ideally we would like our PF to have some semblence of a jumpshot. I also think Gad might be tough to get because his value is higher at the C position than PF. The Bucks have nothing inside so I am sure they will do all they can to lock him up.
Of all the attainable free agent power forwards, I think Gadzuric may be the best fit here. He's young and very athletic, which is a huge plus. With his size and athleticism, I think he could one day lead the league in rebounding. Every championship team needs a specialty player. The Pistons with Ben Wallace, the Spurs with Bowen, the Bulls and Rodman. Guys that really excel in an area other than scoring. The Rockets have kind of a monotonous roster. A lot of players with the same skill set. Gadzuric would make this a much more versatile team.
Isn't this the guy we drafted and traded for Jason Collier? If so they probably should be in the same age group.
I loved Gadzuric at UCLA. I think Milwaukee will spend the money to keep him there. If they don't the Rockets need to give him a hard look.
We could play him at center and move Yao to PF. Gadzuric is a center which doesn't always translate to PF, different skill set. Nobody thought Cato would be a PF until he did it. Then, he was only middling.
Moving Yao to PF does nothing to solve our problems on the defensive end. Neither Gad nor Yao would be able to keep up with, say, Duncan or KG or Dirk or Amare.
1st, he is restricted and Milwalkee already sucks on the interior. We would have to outbid what they think he is worth, and they need such players and should know his strengths and weaknesses. In other words, very high probability of overpaying. 2nd, as Deuce said, he presents the same kinds of weakness to our offense playing him as at the 4 as Cato did. There are a lot of other better fitting targets with a lower probability of overpaying.
Turn on your sarcasm detector. Gadzuric is not a 4 so what would we do with him. You can't convert every 5 to 4 just cause they are tall.
