Just letting y'all see how the Phoenix Suns Fan's felt about Rudy T's dismissal. I was truly touched, and I felt I'd let them know that at least I respected them more for it.

Below are the responses I received. (It took a while to get an account there, but I'm glad I did.)

Thought that y'all might like to read what Sun's fans had to say in appreciation for Rudy T.

    Fatty FatBastard - 11:51pm Jun 2, 2003 MST

Just letting y'all know, we got a link over at clutchcity.net about whether the Suns fan's should hate us as much as we hate the Jazz (and in my opinion, the Sonics).

Someone carried a link over here, where I noticed that y'all also had a link about Rudy T.

I CANNOT tell you guys how respectful you were towards our ex-coach! While some of y'all said that he's not a good coach, NOT ONE, I repeat, NOT ONE of you guy's were disrespectful, in the least.

I, as a fan, have a new respect for you people here. If you don't mind, I'll probably check in from time to time for some (hopefully) good debates over Yao v. Stoudemire, etc.

But your comments alone have made me more of a Sun's fan (albeit second rate to my first love. Hey... I'm a native Houstonian!)

Also, just to get you guys up to date... Rudy WAS forced out of the Rox organization. And most of us were TRULY pissed off. He deserved better after 33 frickin years. (just my opinion.)

Anyway.. THanks!!! Y'all truly showed that there are other CLASS individuals in the league.

(Also, this is the same moniker I use at CC.net. I only felt I should be me as much as possible.)

Here's to the Rox and the Sun's kicking the Jazz's ass out of the playoffs.... (finally!)

    Seriously... Thanks guys.

"There are no ClutchCity members on our site!"

J/K Fatty, thanks for the kind words. Rudy T is a class act, and I'll be surprised if the guy you replace him with is as good as Rudy was. But maybe I'm wrong; the Rockets certainly could (and maybe should) have done better this year. Part of it is probably Rudy's fault.

    Right on, FFB.

Rudy definitely is a class individual, it's just that, from my point of view, he was forced out by the Rox backcourt (Steve & Cat) & their relentless selfishness more than anything else. At the VERY least, Rudy could've been offered a scouting position, as he definitely, from this Suns fan's observation, was able to get the MOST out of the Rox CBA influx of the late 1990's to present (Mack to Hawkins, basically).

Let me tell you one thing about us here at phxsuns.net: We're definitely the best blend of Suns fans & unbiased b-ball folks I've ever experienced on the net.

Just make sure you keep sticking around though, FFB.

BTW, is there anyone besides me that thinks a common pre-requisite to being a Suns and/or Rockets fan consists of being a Laker AND Jazz hater?

Thanks a bunch for the cool sentiment, FFB.

    I stand corrected, pickle.

Good save on your part, especially when it comes to the western conference's former best Casper impersonator in Jason Kidd.

Man, the way the media has slobbed over Kidd, you'd almost think that we here at the board are the only ones who remember how Kidd used to cowwer at the slightest sight of a crunch situation.

Understood. I will like to see what y'all have to say about everything. I'm mostly in the hangout section of the other site, but that's because I like to talk about fast food..... a lot...

How do you guys feel about Kidd? Not to be rude, but Kidd seems to be the quintessential PG in the NBA right now. (IMO better than Marbury and Francis)

    Are you pissed he left?

Always Remember To Keep One Foot In the Groove.....As Gene says when you've got but one draft pick: "Go Big, Go Collison"
    An emphatic NO!!!!!

Francis, in his selfish play as well as his petty motives to get out of Vancouver in 1999, is, basically, the anti-Christ of what kind of atmosphere we're trying to maintain here. Our chemistry is the best it's been in a decade & we've got one hell of a talented, YOUNG team to build upon that & grow with. EVERYONE'S ego here has been left at the door (yes, even Penny's in his acceptance to be a 3rd - 4th option behind Steph, Marion & Amare) & Francis definitely strikes me as one who's not about to be "dissed" like that.

The Rox, if they were savvy enough, would make a deal for, say, Jamal Crawford in exchange for Mobley to at least get them ONE playmaker who will willingly feed Yao.

Needless to say, Mo Taylor aside, the Rox backcourt is their main problem: no one wants to dish & the team as a whole is suffering.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Fatty FatBastard - 12:59am Jun 3, 2003 MST (#10 of 51)
I meant would we (Rox) trade for Kidd.

I agree that Mobley needs to go, and we need to switch Francis to the two.

I've still got NO idea what to do with Mo or Griffen. They both seem happy with their own crapulence. BUT, who knows...

And, hopefully, Posey, or our new aquisition, Nachbar, pays off.

Anyway, I didn't come here to talk about the Rox! I can do that easily on the site I'm on... I came to congratulate the people here.

IMO, the Sun's will be a contender for a while. However, there is definitely something that needs to be added to win a champiomship.

Yep. And the something that needs to be added to the Suns is quality bench depth, especially at 4 & 5.

Sorry about the missunderstanding. Would the Rox trade for Kidd? If a Kidd deal was on the table, they'd be NUTS to pass up a look, especially with the confidence Kidd's picked up since being banished to the NJ swamps. There's not one person here who doubts Kidd's game, just his attitude.

In any case, Dawson needs to do SOMETHING about that backcourt.

So FFB, what's the latest buzz on the Rockets coaching vacancy ?

    Any inside word ?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Fatty FatBastard - 01:27am Jun 3, 2003 MST (#14 of 51)
The buzz is that Les (our owner) screwed up big time. He fired (ahem, excuse me) let Rudy go, and tried finding a new coach pronto. Problem: Rudy still had $12M on his contract, and, according to sources, that was whar inevitably made us lose Brown. According to what we knew, the Rox gave an offer to Brown, but... with what we still had to pay Rudy... we couldn't come close to Detroit's offer.

That said... If I were Brown, I would STILL take the Piston's offer.

CD screwed up. Les screwed up. I messed myself. Just a normal occurence in Houston these days.

Is SwingMan the Suns Gorilla? You be the judge...
It saddens me to hear that the Rockets' organization has disrespected Rudy T in such a fashion. The man deserves so much better.

    Welcome to the board, FFB.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Fatty FatBastard - 01:38am Jun 3, 2003 MST (#17 of 51)
The inside word is... IMO.... Dunleavy. He apparently gave a wonderful interview, and is considered the front-runner.

JVG: A great coach. And we are talking about grabbing straws between the two.

I'm not guaranteeing anything, but I would bet it's MD. (IMO-just keep Rudy)

(The Rox COMPLETELY screwed up the Larry Brown thing!)

We could have more than likely had him if we had been as aggressive as the Piston's.

We just weren't. How detrimental that becomes will be apparent in the years to come.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Fatty FatBastard - 01:49am Jun 3, 2003 MST (#18 of 51)
I miss Kenny Thomas the same way I miss Othella Harrington, or, to a lesser extent Otis Thorpe.

I miss him! But he isn't an "integral" part to wimming a championship.

And, you have to realize we had Mo Taylor, who was "untradeable" (because we signed the idiot to a max contract), and we had Eggie (Eddie Griffen............ 5th.....I, repeat, 5th pick in the draft, and seems like he's happy with his 1 mill.)

I'm sOOoOO hoping that Eggie gets it together. Otherwise, the Rox are going to have to trade HARD!

If you don't mind, I'll probably check in from time to time for some (hopefully) good debates over Yao v. Stoudemire, etc.

I’m one of the biggest Stoudemire fans you’ll ever encounter, and have been for longer than just about anybody else here (except maybe Swingy). However, I state, without reservation, that I love Yao!

I had some bad feelings about the Rox, after they embarrassed us in the playoffs in ’94 and ’95, and the kiss o’ death, and the whole Francis/Vancover situation, and the Mo Taylor signing… I should probably also hate them for helping out New Jersey with the Jefferson/Collins/Armstrong deal… but Yao won me over. I like the team now, just because of him.

Rust never sleeps; Do what it takes, Big Jake.
FFB, thanks for the sentiments. Rudy is a class guy and deserved better. I don't think Dunleavy will be all that much better. The Rockets problem is that there is only one ball and too many guys want it -- Francis, Cat Mobility, Rice, Taylor. Francis is a GREAT player, altho immature. Rockets need to deal for a guy who can distribute the ball, play defense and defer to Francis. Cat should be sent packing. Somebody may want Taylor, but I think Houston is stuck with Rice. The offense needs to go through Yao a majority of the time; he understands the game and has solid fundamentals.

As for Houston knocking the Suns out of the playoffs, well, the Suns let opportunity slip away. And Hakeem is one of my all-time favorite players.

Thanx for showing some respect around here FFB. If i ever go to CC.net, ill be sure to do the same. RudyT is def one of the best guys in basketball, and the intelligent minds around here knew that. We're really not the type to go bashing someone just because of who they play for/what team theyre associated with (save for the JKidd factor). I believe RudyT was forced out and while he IS the Rockets, i think it may have been time for a change with the team. Sometimes some new blood isnt all that bad. The worst thing you want is a coach who the players have stopped responding to, which will lead to the team just treading water, and eventually some confrontations. So while it sucks about RudyT, you guys will prob be better off in the long run, and i shudder to think about that.

Personally, not too big a fan of the rockets all together, but i really like Yao. With all the hype and crap he's had to put up with over the entire past 2 years, its a wonder how he didnt just collapse on court and die of exhaustion. I cant stand francis though, but i like Nachbar and have high hopes for Griffin (used to watch him at Seton Hall).

Very cool thread, Fatty (or do you prefer Fat b*stard). I echo everyone's sentiments and welcomes.

We all wish Rudy T the very best in health and life. No doubt, the man is truly a class act and knows the game of basketball.

In regards to the Rockets, although they are a very talented team, I think there are some issues with leadership and chemistry. As talented as Francis is, he has no idea how to properly utilize Yao. I think the only way the team will become contenders and take advantage of Yao's skills is to get rid of Francis' partner in crime, "Cat" Mobley.

I post over at CC.net as well, but I have to go "under cover" since my CV moniker was banned for posting pro-Suns remarks. Anyways, we have had some long winded debates over here about Rudy T around the time that it was obvious that he wasnt coming back. I think the overall sentiment, is that he was a very good coach, and an even better person. I have the utmost respect for the guy, he was (is) a class act.

Regarding Yao V Stoudemire. One thing I have noticed, is that there is some pre-requisite that if you are a Suns fan, you can not like Yao. Likewise, if you are a Rox fan, you can not like Amare. I fell into that trap a little bit during the ROY race, just because I wanted Amare to take home the trophy. The fact is, however, that both are very good players, and will only get better. My choice is obviously Amare, but I can see how Rox fans would be so enamored with Yao.

    Anyway Fatty Fat, welcome aboard.

Sorry Cappy, but I take over Swingy's thrown, I knew Amare since he was a in HS, cause my bro went to MT Zion w/ him when I saw him play in a pick up game I was hooked.I think that was like 3 years ago.

Welcome aboard FFT,Im a fellow Texan as well (born in SA)so when Suns games aren't on I like looking at my other home teams.Rudy defines Class just like D-Rob not to be confused w/ D-Rod(Rodman)I think the Rockets should work out a deal to get a star PF, and trade Mobley, and maybe even MR.Franchise.

how about a sign and trade:

    Brand/Miller/Richardson/scraps for Mobley/Franchise/Griffen/cap fixers
throw in a few draft picks and you got a VERY nice looking team

    C-Yao
    F-Brand
    F-Posey
    G-Richardson
    G-Miller
that's a young nucleus to build around, and the Clippers will always be the Clippers, hate to take in cap room but will jump at anything that involves draft picks.

I first spoke to Amare when he was in his third tri-mester. I knew he'd be a Sun some day because when I hummed the sun's Theme song to him... he kicked... Well actually that's when I told his mom I thought her best bet financially was to get the Kid into some sort of a Soccer Program as early as possible... Game of the future I told her. I've never been a Barkley fan but I'm one of the few here that doesn't like him... Goes back to his Philly days... Just never liked the guy. Great player though...

And... So no hard feelings from me Fatty. Elie was pretty hated here for many years... then he came on board and most forgave him

Horray is still hated due to the Ainge towel throwing incident... I'm no fan of Ainge... but Horray was Waaaaaaay outta line in doing what he did... Horray is a great clutch player however.

Alot here don't Sammy Cassells as well... I happen to like him and his game... He'd be someone I'd select in a pickup game at a park.

"I'll take Sammy... Rodney Rodgers, Ty Corbin, and Connie Hawkins"

We may not win all of em... but since they were selected on the basis of "NBA players I'd bet I'd enjoy drinking a beer with" The post game should be enjoyable.

Not to get the thread back on track Fatty Fat but I think Barkley is great. I just got done reading his (and Wilbon's) last book, "I May Be Wrong but I Doubt It". IMO, the man is very entertaining. I like to listen to him, but I don't put a whole lot of stock in what he says...I think that is the key. He doesnt take himself too seriously, why should anyone else?

I have never met him, but Barkley is hands down my favorite celebrity in the history of celebrities. That and he is my favorite b-baller of all time....

From the mind of the poster formerly known as jed.
Glad you could come by and put in your two cents, FFB. I think Rudy has more than a few fans over here.

Damn you beat me to it. I was going to suggest just that. Trading some of the maroons from here that post all the time and kill bandwidth and say either, the same thing over and over, absolutely nothing, or both.
