Headed back for a few days over Thanksgiving and had a great f'n time. Split time between Austin and Houston, and didn't realize how much I missed the food down there. From Wednesday through Sunday I hit up the following: Whataburger Chuy's Rudy's Kerbey Lane Z Tejas Texadelphia No wonder people down there are fat -> that stuff will kill you if eaten regularly. Hit up the A&M game on Thursday night, and had a blast at our tailgate, even though one of the guys had to be taken off on stretcher by the EMS since he had alcohol poisoning. Hit up W 6th St after the game, then back to Houston on Friday. Surprisingly, Houston's night life has come a long way from 5-10 years ago. We hit up a few places in Midtown Friday night, and there were some pretty nice females out there. One thing I was a little surprised about was how the bars have parking lots right out front. How is that legal? Do the cops just look the other way when drunk people leave the bar and go straight for the car? Either way, Houston's much more pleasant in the fall without the humidity. Also, it seems like the new trend in Houston is the cookie-cutter 3-story townhome inside the loop. When did these things start becoming the norm. Four different friends of mine have bought one of these over the last year, and they all look pretty much the same. All that said, I'm looking forward to heading back there sometime during Christmas.
Those cookie cutter townhomes are the "in" thing right now. It's a "transformation" of sorts... I guess.
Yep, several in fact. I know there is one in The Woodlands, another at 1960 and 290 and I believe there is one on on Westheimer around River Oaks.
That's right, there's one not too far from the old Compaq Center. That place is dirt cheap. Had a massive Elvis Presley Combo plate consisting of 2 enchiladas, a taco, beans, rice, and some tostadas for under $10. The margaritas were pretty solid too.
I went there Friday. Texas martinis and big as yo' face burritos . . . . MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm . . . . . . jalepeno stuffed olive . . . . . .
You shut your mouth, you! I go there once a week just for the New Mexican Martinis... they are the closest thing to Trudy's Mexican Martinis that I can find in Houston.
That's the thing I don't get...why are they so expensive in crappy neighborhoods? I understand it's re-development but who wants to live in a townhouse in an ugly neighborhood? One of our friends bought a townhouse off Clinton Drive and I-10 east...the neighborhood is not good to live in. I'll rather buy a $200k in a nice neighborhood, IMO.
