How about this for a Rocket's commercial series. The Slogan... HOUSTON ROCKETS BASKETBALL...for when you need to run... INT. GROCERY STORE - AFTERNOON We see a grocery cart full of items, and a slacker (ala the SoBE commercial) grocery shopping near the cart. Our character realizes that everything he is looking for is in THIS cart, he looks around and sneaks the cart toward checkout. Upon reaching the end of the isle, he is met by Yao and Cuttino holding a head of lettuce and a bunch of grapes respectively. The two look at each other, then at the Slacker realizing that he is stealing THEIR grocery basket, he smiles sheepishly then we... CUT TO: ROLL ROCKETS FAST BREAK PACKAGE (video sequence of Rocket's fast breaks) V/O ( (voice over) HOUSTON ROCKETS BASKETBALL...for when you need to run! CUT TO: INT. GROCERY STORE- MOMENTS LATER We see the Slacker shopping again but this time with a head of lettuce apparantly smashed over his head, and covered in smashed grapes. We hear overhead in that grocery store voice, "Clean up isle 4, clean-up isle 4, Rockets season tickets on sale now" OUT TAG -------------------------------------- This is a comical series that I think could shed a different light on the team and emphasize their personalities, while still connecting with ALL communities through diverse casting and comedy. I've sequenced an original :15 and :30 music bed too...wanna hear it?
and what the hell do u do for a living?!?!?!?!?! u got wwaaaaaaaayyyyy too much time on your hands bro
I like it dude. Most of the Rockets commercials are very repeditive and only a little creativity. This would be completley different.
Yeah, pretty clever. Personally, I would like to see more commercials that have comedy emphasizing Yao's amazing height. Like that one ESPN sportscenter commercial with George Muresan dancing. Perhaps a commercial that has Ming showing up in Houston to thousands of screaming fans, and then he rides a bicycle to the basketball arena, and on the way he can rescue people from 2nd story burning buildings (from the ground of course), get stuck cats out of the tree and maybe change the marquee sign for some movie theater...I don't know, just something that shows everyone how amazingly tall the dude is.
I concur with Gimp. That would be way funny. The line would be something like "The rockets, when you need an assist" Then they show Yao Ming throw an alley oop pass to Francis.
Maybe Yao will end up in an add for the Mini Cooper... has anyone seen their ads? Pretty funny stuff. I'd like to see him driving around in one of those with his head sticking out of the sunroof.
Abother Brother:- Very creative, just cut out the stealing, bad example to all the people young and old!
Lighten up, man. Believe me, 99% of commercials are worse than that. Besides, the guy wasn't "stealing" as in running out of the store with stuff he didn't pay for. I just took it as taking their stuff to the cash register. Besides, he ends up getting taught a lesson anyway. It's perfect!
ESPN comes up with the craziest and funniest commercials ive ever seen. we should have the players get involved in humorous commercials
DC Kid:- Most commercials are in need of vetting, you are correct! Yet its about time we started doing it!
Another Brother - Pretty funny stuff. I would like to see what you could do with Cuttino, Steve, and Yao Ming in a Chinese restaurant.
Yeah, Steve'd be pissed. AnotherBrother, I actually had a humorous idea for a commercial. I sent it in to Tim. It involved the new mix of cultures we'll have at the Compaq Center, learning to get along. I thought it was pretty funny, but I guess Mr McDougall didn't, or was too busy to respond. Hmph. Either that or they'll use my idea without giving me credit and I'll sue them by fishing up my "sent e-mails."
I like the idea of showing Yao riding a bike to the laptop...that would be hilarious, with a clip of him on the freeway or something during rush hour...
