I returned it and got another one from Gamestop. Very smooth return policy (though it's only being 9 days so it's within their policy). It turns on, the screen goes black and that's it, don't know what's the reason. Shouldn't be something that's common and I'm just glad it happened early. Any one else had trouble with their PS3?
Damn! Have you been playing it 24/7 or something?? I was about to reply to the OP saying, "get a 360" but I guess that's useless now.
I've heard the failure rate for the PS3 and Wii is under 1%. That sucks though. Hope you have better luck with your new one.
tops of all time....wtf??? I think the console needs to get a bit older before making any claim like that
"That was the greatest layup in the history of basketball" Tell it to Bill... Also its the 1st batch of units that have all the problems anyways. Well... Except for 360.
I bought my 360 on launch day and just last night got the 3 rings of death. But, booted it up again and played through a whole 12 min. qtr. game of 2K8. I can't imagine it will be too much longer before I have to send it in to get repaired though. Those that have gone through it before, how long does it usually take to get your (or new) 360 back?
Before the 360 dies its just 3 red rings. When it stops working it called the three rings of death. Good stuff, keep truckin'
the red ring of death is so common, MS had to increase the amount of time they will replace it for no charge. Ive heard of a few people complaining that updates would cause their ps3 to quit working, bu those are few and far between at the places I read. I wish MS would get these 360 issues worked out, I wouldn't mind getting one....but Im happy with the variety between my Wii and ps3, so Im not in a big hurry to get a 360. (tho I wouldn't mind being able to play Halo just to see what all the buzz is about)
Believe it or not, my friend is on his 7th xbox in 2 years. Ive owned my PS3 since launch day, i have no problems.
From everything I've heard the PS3 is far and away more stable than the Xbox 360, glad I sold mine and never had to go through the 3 rings of death
I'm waiting for my 3rd. First one was stolen last year (don't live on Riverside if you have the choice). Second had the red ring of death. It's replacement worked for a couple weeks before going red ring. Overall though, I'm happy with the system when it's working. I bought a USB game controller and started DLing SNES games. In the last few months I've replayed Chrono Trigger, FF3, Zelda: Link to the Past, Mario Kart, and Secret of Evermore. Can't say I have much to complain about.
Wow... I've only recently begun to experience freeze-ups with my PS2, and my original PS still works! Excessive gaming much?
i borrowed my friends 360, and its a curse, i have been playing halo 3 online for 3 or 4 hours a day!!! ive had it about a week. not much time for studying and I wake up tired because i play till 1 or 2 in the morning. do not get a 360 avoid it!!! its a curse i tell you...you will have no social life, heck i even started getting too lazy to go out. when im at work all i can think about is my level or rank, heck i havent even check it all day...gonna go do that now
