Baltimore -> AFC East Miami -> AFC South Indianapolis -> AFC North Makes more sense geographically and we get the Dolphins...Texans rule the AFC South for years
That or peyton needs to retire already. Love the guy in commercials and SNL, but his play on the field puts me in a state of depression. Oh yeah, I'm down with the realignment.
dumb.. "get rid of good teams so we can be better" i'd rather play against good teams and come out on top
Baltimore (and probably Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Cincinnati) would never go for it. The AFC North is what the old AFC Central was sans *sigh* the Oilers. But putting Cleveland's old team in the division to take Houston's place was a great compromise for the diehards. It'd make too much sense to have us with both Florida AFC teams and the Titans, but I don't think we're gonna be able to muster up the support for that. The Fins might also resist the move as it takes them out of the Eastern TV markets (something that Dallas will never go for).
I'm hoping Jacksonville moves to Los Angeles. We'd get more media exposure. Also, though west, LA is still technically South (more South than Indy is). I don't know, NFL divisions are kind of weird. The NFC South is the only one that makes the most sense.
This will happen eventually, but not until the economy turns around. While Florida might actually be in a full fledged depression, Cali isnt doing much better.
I was listening to 610 and MattJ was mentioning The Govenator was about to approve a new stadium in a burb near LA. If this happens I think its going to happen asap, NFL is desperate to get that TV market.
more like AFC East New York New England Pittsburg Baltimore AFC North Buffalo Cincinatti Cleveland Indianapolis AFC South Miami Houston Kansas City Tennessee AFC West Denver San Diego Oakland Los Angeles (Jaguars) Yeah the Jags could be on their way out from Jacksonville, they can't even sell a small capacity stadium. This new format would be perfect for Texans to dominate.
I dont care for divisions really. Alignments within alignments, too much added in design getting in the way of who has the best records. If there was a 100 team league and no divisions no conferences no alignment, it'd be confusing but workable to me. 8-8 Chargers got in the playoffs last year. The Patriots winning 11 games MISSED the playoffs. That should not be happening. I'm no Patriots fan, but they were THREE games better than the Chargers. In NBA terms thats a 15 game difference. Consider the Texans had the SAME 8-8 record as the Chargers. Were the Texans a truly deserving, legit playoff team? (Yeah the Chargers beat 12-4 Colts in the playoffs. And division winner 9-7 Cardinals got to the Super Bowl, still...) California context - The stadium referendum in this economy "creates thousands of jobs".... Plus they're trying to work around some environmental regulations thats been obstacles in the process. Libertarians fall in faint.
