I went to the game last night and was pleasantly surprised by the decent turnout of Rockets fans. A fair amount of Red and white in the building. (I tried looking for some of the guys on the roll call thread sitting in sec.315/316 etc but gave up on it). After the game I had an interview with Dikembe to do for my blog and got in the locker room all pysched to talk to Dik but lo and behold, the big man was in a funk after the game. He was TICKED OFF. I came in prepared for Dikembe's mumbling but it was taken to another level. He let me know off the bat that he is done and is definitely retiring after the playoffs. He didn't seem too happy that he didn't get to play in the loss. Nonetheless we got it done. Yao and Scola were a bit more pleasant and I was also impressed by Scola's excellent English. (I live in Dallas and don't get to listen to Scola regularly). Artest either is a really confident and carefree guy or seriously has some screws loose. (I guess we all know the latter is probably the best answer). Everyother player exits the showers with their towels firmly wrapped around their waist, but oh no, not Ron-Ron. Dude comes out holding his towel against his "little ron" and baring his butt cheeks for the locker room and the media to view. Very unnerving. As the players were heading to the bus under the AAC, some fans with good access-Mavs players families, relations were trying to get signatures and someone gave Yao a Mavs hat to sign but our boy was too smart for that and would not lower his standards to put his signature on the hat of a rubbish team like the Mavs. All in all fun experience, hopefully by the end of the playoffs our result in yesterday's game will seem less important.
Also I got C-ckblocked big time. I chatted up this FOINE FINE FINE chick who performed at halftime of the game. Apparently she goes around performing at halftime of various sports events and she is a contortionist and her act involves using her feet to shoot a bow and arrow. Baby girl was so damn sexy. I saw her after halftime and after she'd changed, walking under the arena to the elevators while I was talking to the security guard at the media dining room. Mouths dropped as we saw her. She was like Vida Guerra with real tata's and from Eastern Europe. Anyway, her manager was a black chick and when she saw I was spitting game at her friend/client, the black chick told me her friend was married. I got irritated and told her I don't see a ring on her friend/client's finger and that she should let the chick talk. It was pointless as the manager was not going to let me get far. But man, that halftime chick was so fine. Sorry for the pointless story.
thanks for sharing I wouldn't have minded Deke in there in the 4th, considering Yao was rendered almost useless offensively when they started fronting him
HILARIOUS! I think it's a combination of some loose screws, and frankly, just not giving a flying you-know-what about anyone in the room.
It was just so unnerving. As a straight dude you know to turn away but then the dude stood in the middle of the locker room and was calling out things he needed for his locker. He asked for socks and some more items that it seemed all his teammates already had at their lockers. I sometimes wonder about female reporters when they encounter such situations.
I'm sure they're used to it. I don't think that's an uncommon occurrence in the locker room. I mean, the media is intruding onto their territory after all...
pretty much all reporters knows there's a chance they can be exposed to nudity in there, but i think guys are actually more covered now than in the past there was that incident with, i think Josh howard? Not sure why he comes to mind, prob not him, but some lady was in the locker room with a media pass and she took a pic of him with her phone, so thye're more careful now.
Ditto. And I don't think we should take Deke's words as his final decision. His mind could change depending on how the playoffs go, I should think.
It's about African athletes in all sports. You really wanna check it out? It's nothing special and I just started it about a year ago but luckily I know the Mavs Media relations director as well as the Texans from some work I did with another website some years back so both were pretty cool about letting me get passes. I'll post a link if anyone really does give a crap about it. I have an interview with Amobi Okoye I did over Christmas.
It was just weird since everyone else is/was covered up. I guess Ron is just not a bashful dude. RV6, did the J-Ho thing really happen? Man, if it did the female reporter was messed up for doing what she did.
Did you see me? I was 3rd row on the floor right on the opposite side of the benches wearing an Artest jersey
i know for sure a female took a picture of an nba player, she was in the lockerroom and got him as we was coming out the shower or something, i can't remember if it was really howard though and i dont think she was a reporter, just used someone's media pass..
The story went from Ron's bare ass to being "rooster" blocked from a girl with a Vida G ass. Hilarious.
I played sports all my life, including college and my experience was every locker room has 1 or 2 guys who just hold the towel over the sausage but let the hams show. Oh and you aren't *blocked when you don't even get to have a 10 second conversation with the girl. Sorry but you had no chance. She was there doing her job, as was you, and quite honestly as a journalist myself I think you were acting extremely unprofessionally.
