To me when I watch Chase it seems as though he has the potential to become a small Dirk Nowitzki. I believe Chase should stop settling for the three as much as he does and work around in the post some because the more he settles for the three the smaller his potential becomes. Maybe we could have someone who specializes in the low post to come teach Chase a few moves. If he learned how to work the post then that could be an added dimension to his game along with his shooting and slashing. Does anybody else believe that with time and practice Chase can become somewhat of a Dirk Nowitzki and add more to the team? And if not Nowitzki who do you think Chase could resemble as he reaches his full potential?
Not quite sure, he does ahve the potential to go places though. I haven't really got the chance to see him in person, since I have to listen to the games on the radio most times.
Thats why I said a smaller Dirk Nowitzki. Plus Chase could never become another TMac lol. But it just seems to me that if Chase added a low post game then in addition to shooting and slashing he could resemble a smaller Dirk. Maybe its just me though i dont know.
chase needs to learn to finish strong, laying up with a low angle is going to wind up as a block a lot of the time, either finish high off the glass like brooks, or dunk the ball, we know you can get up there.
How about Peja in the Adelman/Kings era- Comparing Rookie years for fun: Chase 19.6MPG 42%FG 36%3pt 78%FT 2.9 REB 1.1 AST 8.6 PPG Peja 21.4MPG 38%FG 32%3pt 85%FT 3.0 REB 1.5 AST 8.4 PPG <br>
A small Dirk is basically a regular small forward. Dirk is unique because of his mismatch potential. A better comparison for Chase is Richard Jefferson. Similar size and athleticism. Limited handle, three point range and ability to run the floor are all comparable. RJeff has a better first step and more length but Chase might be better at shooting on the move and is a more willing passer. Either way, Chase is on track to being a very good role player/borderline starter in this league and a good fit for Adelman's system.
I would love it if Chase would get close to Martin and learn his craft. Martin is going to get hurt from time to time. We need his reserve on the bench to be able to dupicate him. Chase has more potential to be like Kevin than any other player we got.
Damn, Chase has to be the most albino black guy I've ever seen. I had no clue he was Afro American!!
thats a pretty good comparison. I wouldnt mind seeing him become a young Peja. Or maybe another Hedo Turkoglu
Other than they both can shoot, I don't see much Dirk. Compare him to someone closer to size. A big part of dirks game is posting up and hitting the fadeway, chase doesn't have that
Chase will never learn how to post, he's too soft and its just not his game. He needs to learn how to shoot off the dribble, right now hes a catch n shooter/slasher. He needs that in between game to be a real offensive threat.
Let me preface this post by saying that I like Bud's game, his athleticism, and his BBall IQ is through the roof. However, it just seems like he has a very laid back personality. I'm basing this assessment soley what I've observed on TV. I don't attend practices and have never been around him personally. He plays within the system but I would like to see him force the issue a little more. I'd like to see him take it personally go out and rip somebodys heart out of thier body (preferbaly anyone from Utah).
You guys are funny! He'll never be 7'0 tall so he'll never enjoy the same advantages the Dirk does every time he's on the court. Look Chase is an above average shooter with the potential to be a great shooter. He is a TOP FLIGHT ATHLETE (Unlike Dirk who is a good one for his size) plus he can play a half court game or use his athleticism on an open court game. C-Bud just needs to attack more offensively and get stronger so he can apply himself defensively. He'll be much better next year after one go around through the league. The biggest thing he needs is experience in the league. He has a lot of natural gifts to work with; it’s really up to him he could easily evolve into a starting caliber swingman on a very good team. He'll never a Dirk Nowitzki caliber post-up threat. But you can say that about 95% of the NBA.
He's not bad off the dribble now. He's good coming off of curls and remember his fast-break buzzer-beating 3. Budinger's never going to be asked to handle the ball like a point guard. In my opinion, he should be working on making more contested shots and watching everything that Kevin Martin does.
A mini-T-Mac! A young Peja! An almost Hedo! He could be a tiny Dirk without the height, fade away, body, or shooting release. Seriously, can we please stop with that? Beejezus man! I'll take two or three analogies but past that and it starts to get annoying lol
