May 30th I begin my new job as artistic director of a super cool theater in Providence, RI, with a rich history of developing and producing new works and a strong national reputation for same. The job was very competitive and I spent about four months applying and interviewing (about 13 hours of interviews with about 50 people - including a liason from the mayor's office - all told), so I'm way pumped I got it. Wish me luck.
I do sometimes, meggo. Where this gig's concerned I'm pretty well likely to break a leg from all the jumping up and down. Whatever. It'll be worth it. Thanks for the kind words.
Congrats Batman! We all know you are gonna do an excellent job. Hopefully I'll find my up there someday and catch a show. BTW, did you get that new edition of Year One? Knowing you, you probably have the original hardcover from the 80s. I of course don't, so I upgraded. Link
That's gnarly! Good job on the good job. With some time and effort, maybe you can convince Rhode Island to declare you emperor and then you can annex Delaware, and then you can name the newly formed frankenstate "BATMAN JONES IS NUMERO UNO b****EZ." That'd be a cool name for a state.
Oski: I never had the graphic novel, but I did have the original issues. They're long since lost. Great series. thadeus: People overuse the term LOL. 99% of the time people use it they did not in fact LOL. I only use it when I really and truly LOL. So: LOL. Thanks for the kind words, y'all.
Very nice, Guffman...er, Batman. It must be nice to get to do what you love for a living instead of just as a hobby. Congrats, and let me know if you ever need a percussionist for your pit orchestra.
^ | | hey! That was supposed to be my job! j/k Congratulations... very impressive to land a highly sought-after job like that! And to be able to work in what you love (even though you were doing that already)...
Thanks again, everybody. One of the perks of moving to Providence is I get just a little closer to a basketball city. With Boston just 40 minutes away, some people actually care about NBA ball there. In Pittsburgh they're downright hostile to it. Not that I'll have a lot of time for basketball in my first year there, but when I do it'll be nice to watch a game in a bar without some old drunk telling me how stupid I am for watching it.
