...by, of course, a parent. what for? "racial discrimination." She had written the kid up once for acting up and disrespecting her (he's had a history of trouble before). She wrote him up a 2nd time for flipping her off and throwing up gang signs. when she saw his mom and tried to speak to her about it, the mom just ignored her. that day, she calls the district to file a complaint and they were supposed to come out to meet her yesterday. but that didn't happen b/c now the mom wants to take this to court on the basis that my g/f is only accusing him of being a gangbanger b/c he's black. what does she expect to win? i don't know. the mom wants my g/f to write an official letter of apology which she refuses to do b/c it'll be an admission of guilt. now the mom's lawyer and the union is about to go at. she's only been a teacher 3 years and she's achieved alot. she's been nominated for teacher of the year twice and the first teacher in ISD (i think) to have a 100% passing class in one of the standardized tests. it's just think it's stupid taht something like this could be connected with her. i miss teh days of the paddle. /rant
DOCUMENTATION. If your g/f (wtf is g/f anyway, why not just say girlfriend? anyway...) has everything documented, she's in good shape. What complete BS!!! The litigous society we live in and again, I agree, what the purpose of the suit is...The kid sounds like he just needs a good ass kicking... The real problem is when stuff like this happens, the good teacher leave for other, less confrontational schools and thus, the students suffer... Tell her to dig her heels in because its the principal of the thing...
Sorry to hear that. Is she a member of any professional organizations...ATPE, TCTA...anything like that. Sounds ridiculous. Like D said, prepare the documentation. Why would mom make the say that the teacher accused her son of being a gangbanger, and how would that tie to racial discrimination? Is he a member of The MS13, Latin Kings, Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, Asian Boyz...gangs come in all races.
Reading thse kind of stories makes me quite irritated. There are WAY too many stupid people in this world. Somebody needs to smack both the kid and the parent. EDIT: I think what bothers me the most, is that the attitude of the parent (I'm owed somthing - anyone who gets in my way is abviously racist) will be passed on to her kid, who will continue to be an arrogant little ****, all the while using the "race" card to avoid the trouble he rightfully deserves. Man, sorry to hear that. Sounds like she's guilty until proven innocent. People always ask me why I'm not teaching music even though that's what my degree is in. This is why.
yeah, she's already said if she doesn't get support from the principal or teachers (i believe she will) for this, she will leave. and she can definitely find work b/c the previous principal there has been trying to get her to come to his current school.

Unless there is more to this story then we are hearing...... Her current principal would be making a huge mistake not backing her. He would be sending a loud signal that all parent of minorities have to do whenever there kids get in trouble is throw out the race card -- and they'll win. Keep us updated but I hope she can stand firm and ride this out and has strong backing from the adminisatration and peers.
