Just got word my friend Carolyn Wonderland got a call from Bob Dylan's people today. They told her to come to the show tonight in Austin and to bring her guitar. She's gotta be freaking out. She's a big Dylan fan too. Who knows if she'll actually make it on stage, but this is blowing my mind right now.
No way I'll miss them, Smeg. I'll be camping out hours before the show for a good place in the gen admission crowd. Hopefully I'll be right up front. I've heard good things about them (like they're big Dylan fans). Was fun getting sloppy drunk with you and that other guy the other night.
That's cool, Jeff. I first met her in 93. She played the lead in the first show my company did -- a play I wrote called In the Under Thunderloo. I adore her. She's singing one of the songs on the soundtrack for my new play. Just talked to my friend Scott Daniels who plays guitar in Carolyn's band and got the update: C. got the call pretty late and had to drive from Houston. Arrived backstage near the end of the show. Bob apparently wanted to meet her, so they met. But she didn't play. She either arrived too late or it just wasn't in the cards. Still holding out hope for the Tuesday show, as Carolyn will be in town for her Last Concert gig.
Bob requested her presence at the show. The guitar thing was a miscommunication. He just wanted to meet her. Ray Benson (asleep at the wheel) introduced them. When he said, "This is Carolyn Wonderland," Dylan apparently said, "I don't believe it." Carolyn didn't know what to say, I guess. Dylan said "I love your song. I'm spreading your gospel everywhere I go." She was too freaked to even ask which song he was talking about. That's all I got for now. I'll see Carolyn tonight, so I'll ask for more, but that's pretty good right there I think.
Damn, Batman, that is awesome! Carolyn deserves the accolades. I was hoping Dylan was going to bring her onstage tonight, but I guess not. Oh well...I'm still jacked about tonight's show, and I am ready for the party to begin!!!!!!!
