Houston Texans All-Pro receiver Andre Johnson was stunned when he heard the news that quarterback Matt Schaub had suffered a serious foot injury that will keep him out of action for an undetermined amount of time. "Oh definitely," Johnson said. "It's devastating. We wish he could be out there with us "During the game I saw him limping a little bit and you know he said he was fine. He kept playing. To come in and hear that (Monday), it was like 'wow,' because he went out and finished playing the game. "Now you're hearing rumors that it's possible he could miss the rest of the season and things like that. It's kind of like 'where did all that come from?' " NFL sources confirmed Schaub suffered an injury to the Lisfranc joint in his right foot during a quarterback sneak in the win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "It just kind of feels like we can't catch a break," Johnson said at halftime of the high school basketball game between Travis and Yates at the Merrill Center in Katy. "I was more excited about me coming back and then you get some bad news like that. It's just something we'll have to deal with. Hopefully Matt won't miss the whole season. We're not sure exactly what it is. We do know he has to miss some time. "We're just going to rally around Matt Leinart. I think he'll go out and do a great job for us." The Texans said Leinart will start their next game, which is against Jacksonville on Nov. 27. Johnson said he has a lot of confidence in Leinart. "He's been getting reps with the guys and I think he'll come in and do a great job," Johnson said. "We feel comfortable with Matt (Leinart). We just have to step our game up to another level and just pick up the slack." Johnson has missed six games after a procedure on his hamstring. Outside linebacker Mario Williams and inside linebacker Darryl Sharpton are out for the year. The Texans are hopeful they will get injured safety Danieal Manning back in the near future. Injuries have been a way of life for the Texans in 2011. "In the past when we had injuries, It always hurt us," Johnson said. "Everything we've been through as a team, you learn from those things, all the obstacles that we've been through." In the wake of another major injury Johnson believes the Texans defense will be the key factor for Houston down the stretch. "The way our defense has been playing is amazing," Johnson said. "What they've done on the field for us has been incredible. "As long as they're playing the way they're playing, we're going to be in games and we're going to have chances to win. Even though we're losing our quarterback, I still feel very comfortable with our shot. I still feel very positive about it." And Johnson expects to return to action against the Jaguars. "I feel pretty good," Johnson said. "I went out and ran routes (Monday) morning. Everything went well, didn't feel anything bothering me. (Tuesday) I'll go out and run some longer routes, a lot of deep balls and stuff like that and see how that goes. "I expect to be on the field next week against Jacksonville." Johnson only wishes Matt Schaub could be there with him. Read more: http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/spo...ub's-injury-stuns-andre-johnson#ixzz1e1MEIETl
Now all we need is for Gary Kubiak to cry in front of the media and who knows, maybe things will turn out well after all.
