Ok, For 3 years now whenever I play hoop, or golf, or go for a walk, the ball of my right foot would be in severe pain, sort of like on fire. I could immediatly get rid of the pain by taking my shoe off and just resting it a bit, but it would ultimatly come back with a vengence. I had seen a podiatrist here in Austin and he recommended I get Orthos - which are plastic inserts to support your foot. I got those Orthos 2 years ago, and while they did help some, they did not stop the pain.....so back to the doctor.... Finally, today....he tells me that I have an inflammed nerve between my 4th and 5th toe, and I have 3 options. Option 1 - Live with it, but the pain will come sooner, and I would have to give up a lot of the sports etc I love. Option 2 - Surgery to remove the nerve - fixes the problem but recovery is a bit longer than I like and it costs about $7000. Option 3 - Get a shot of alcohol into the nerve to shrink and shrivel it until it ultimately dies - It usually takes 3 or 4 shots over a couple of months to finish the deal. Well....I HATE shots....HATE EM !!!!!! But, I went for option 3, and it didn't really hurt that much......now I have to see if it works, otherwise I will need surgery. The doc said it has about a 95% success rate.........anyone else have anything like this? Thanks, DD PS. He also told me that 19 out of 20 people with this problem are women.....UGH !
I have had cortisone shots into my spine for my slipped disks. It didn't do anything for me. But when it was over they gave me a coke and some Nutter Butters so it was kind of worth it.
Always make surgery or killing off part of your body the last resort. In all seriousness, go see an acupunturist first. I have a strong suspicion they can fix the problem.
Maybe just drop em an inch? But not give em up all the way, I may want a date with that sports reporter gal/guy in LA. DD PS. All kidding aside, can we not post large pictures, it screws up the reading.
En Fuego! Well, that sounds a little like my boss...He had a steriod or some kind of shot and he said it hurts like hell...He got the orthos but still has the pain...He'll be going back soon... good luck with that...
Foot is on fire? Somebody must be talking about it. Wait. We're talking about it. Quick! For the sake of DD's foot, lock this thread!
"The skin looks white and swollen..." "That's what SHE said! [evil look] " "Darn it, Dwight... that's my joke...! "
Man I thought you claimed to have a foot on fire, because my ex wife's ex sister-in-law (from her first marriage) lit the toe of my sock on fire when we were stoned 20 years ago. Her and my wife laughed. I didn't laugh. It kinda sucks when you're on fire.
The little debbies you used to get, with a Capri Sun, after a youth league soccer, baseball, or basketball game? I remember when the (South Park) Kenny of one of our teams was supposed to bring that ****, his parent brought a 2 liter of sprite with cups instead... Total bummer, man.
you could try losing wieght. That is if your overwieght. You'd be amazed at how much your body enjoys 20lbs less to carry around.
Oh, I am overweight baby !!! I need to lose about 40 lbs. And, yes, I am going back on Low Carb in a bit. DD
