I just got my first truck.. And I must say, it rules!! I definitely feel the benefit of driving a truck already. The same spots I used to have to yield at, cars are stopping for ME! Anyway, I've never driven a truck and having a little problem backing up. I've gotten better, and will master it with experience. However, in the mean time, any suggestions? Also, besides getting a bedliner....any other suggestions? Thanks!
Coma- I've always had a truck and I love them! Good investment is tie down straps. You'll be surprised how often you end up hauling things and the straps (or strap) helps keeping the load from moving around.
Nutcracker: I bought a 2001 F-150 SuperCrew XLT 5.4L. I love it. 4chuckie: Thanks! If I decide to get a hard top tonneau cover, will I still need straps? I haven't a clue to what a strap is. gr8-1: Me too! It's a b*tch to park. I haven't gone downtown to park for an Astros game yet, but man, I'm not looking fwd to it.
Just got my first truck a few months ago, a 1994 Silverado (1500). Before that, I had driven a small car for nine years. Drove the truck for two months, got rear-ended, and it was in the shop for a month while I drove a small rental car. Today I just got the truck back, and I'm having to get used to it all over again. It's fun once you get used to it... and a lot safer (you get the better end of accidents etc.). You can see the whole roadway (like how crazy everyone ahead of you is driving on I-35). However, I still cannot park the thing. Anyone have some parking tips? Any space with two cars on each side of it is right out, unless it's big or it's one of those slanted ones. Usually, I just prepare to park a long way away from things and walk if necessary. (and my only pieces of truck advice so far: Have fun offroad but don't abuse it. Always carry a spare tire. Truck tires are twice as expensive as car tires, so there's a price to pay for all the offroad fun. Don't use 4-wheel drive unless you really have to. In a truck you will have to go slower over speed bumps and railroad crossings. Also, since you don't have a "trunk" anymore, anything you keep inside the cab this time of year will heat up. (like a case of soda that managed to explode))
I have a 99 Ford Ranger, fully loaded. Its pretty badass, i suggest that you get Ventshades and a Bugflector so you can be all 'necked out. Cheers
Got a 94' Toyota pickup. Been hit 5 times, got 133,000miles, its paid off and it runs great! My latest investment was a Houston Rockets metal license plate frame. OOOOOHH, got it at Academy for 9 bucks! Nice!
Shouldn't you be off cheering for your third-place baseball team, third-rate football team or the worst basketball team in the NBA?
