well, i screwed up. don't really know how else to describe it. a buddy of mine wanted to check out the student finance office for some minor funds, i went with him as a watch out man...and we got caught. the police aren't pressing charges...but the university is pretty pissed, and rightly so. i didn't have any tools, my buddy did all the damage and all that, but i was still there. police picked us up and interviewed us seperately last night...stories lined up, stayed in a small/cold holding cell for the night, got taken to the dorm in cuffs this morning, and i have to stay in my room until my meeting with the disciplinary committee either today or tomorrow. i'm screwed. i messed up bad and i'm screwed for it...ugh. this sucks. and my girlfriend is choked. can't get a hold of my parents yet...don't really want to, but am trying anyways. this is really really uncharacteristic of me...and my buddy for that matter. i'll probably get less than him since he did most of the stuff...but we'll see. plz pray for my situation...i'm going to do anything i can to make it up to the school - pay them back twofold, offer labour, offer whatever will earn trust again. but i really messed up - and for a small university (500 students), my rep will be shot...but yeh, that's the least of my worries at the moment.
We all made wrong judgements. The lesson is to make it right next time. Everything has a consequence. Face it, deal with it, you will be fine. Peace.
no...but i'm not allowed out of my room. the police are no longer involved, unless the school decides to press charges, which - hopefully - is unlikely. they seem to prefer to do things internally here.
Is that supposed to be a cute way of saying that you and your friend burglarized the school's Student Finance Office with the intent of stealing any cash that was there? you're not serious about this, are you?
Whoa. Not good. "check out the student finance office for some minor funds" - so that's the euphemism they use these days? As you probably know, getting caught with somebody pretty much implicates you, even if you weren't the one doing the actual damage. Anyway, sounds like you've already learned your lesson, but will still be dealing with the consequences and the fallout. I'm not going to preach about it because I think you already learned that lesson; good luck getting through this as best you can.
I hope everything works for you. I do not want to criticize now for that is the least of your worries. However, I cannot resist. What on Earth made you think that you would not get caught checking out the Student Finance Office of a University for MINOR funds? That is just plain dumb. I hope you get the sympathy of the disciplinary committee. However, being someone who has served on Hearing Panels for academic dishonesty, the odds are stacked against you. When you speak to the committee, BE SINCERE and BE REMORSEFUL. Tear up and cry if you can. I know that for college guys, that goes against their man pride. However, your man pride is a small price to pay for a favorable result. Students have swayed my vote in their favor by truly showing me that they realize the severity of their actions and how they learned their lesson. Conversely, students who thought that they were smarter made me want to throw the book at them. You are not going to outsmart people and you are not going to be able to BS your way out of this. It is human nature to mess up. We all understand that. Don't make excuses for your actions when you speak to the committee. Excuses won't cover you. Be honest and forthright. Don't try to cover your buddy's behind. He got you into this mess. Now you need to save your hide. Open up to the committee and win their sympathy. When there is no points of contention with respect to guilt, sympathy and genuine remorse are your only friends.
I thought that this thread was started by you...I was really looking forward to reading it. Now I'm just disappointed.
Why not? 3814, You're an idiot. But good luck, man. We all do stupid stuff in a wide variety of degrees. You seem like good people. Didn't you do a church mission recently?
hilarious. 3814.... some advice to you...if you can....CRY YOUR EYE BALLS OUT in front of the disciplinary committee!!!...trust me these people are human and they want to see remorse. ...plus this is your career on the line...so damn ...i would be crying right now...sorry i know that didn't make you feel any better....though practice makes perfect.
Do you mind revealing your "race"? I see that the cops let you off with a warning, and this has been a heavy topic in the D&D (different races getting warnings as opposed to actual charges/convictions). Oh, and good luck. We all make stupid mistakes in life. Sometimes the difference is only who gets caught and who doesn't. I hope you learned from this one....
