Well, I have to tell ya'll about this. I was just at the post office on campus here at A&M over by Northgate when I was going back to my car at the 30 minute lot. As I walk by I see this girl trying to back out and this older man just laying on his horn behind her. The thing was, she wasn't going to hit his car, she was trying to back out so he could take her spot. This guy has the horn literally held down for 30 seconds. Finally I walk up and knock on his window and he is this fat, older, maybe late 50's early 60's guy and I ask him real calm and polite to stop honking his horn. The girl is absolutely freaked and there are about 20 people watching as it is quite a busy area.

The dude starts cussing me out at a million miles per hour with spit flying everywhere and so I eventually just ask him to let the girl drive by. I have been in jail for assault before (even though it was self defense) and I didn't want to do anything stupid, especially with this old guy, to get myself in any trouble. So anyway, he backs up a little and lets the girl drive off because there are now like 40 people standing and watching. I go to get in my car and he drives right up behind it and starts honking. I could not believe it. My id took over for a minute and I hopped out of the car while flinging my jacket off in a menacing sort of way and ran up to his window. I knocked on his window and I said, trying to calm down, "what is your problem".

He tells me that I have a big problem now and a million naughty words after that. For a minute I could feel my spine straightening and my hair raising and my fists clenching and then I remembered how senile my grandpa got as he got older and I told the guy "if you don't stop this, I am going to call the police"

He proceeds to tell me that he can pretend to call the police too and picks up his cell phone and starts mumbling and screaming into it. But I really am calling the police. The response time on Sprint's 911 service is freaking ridiculous. From the time I dialed 911 it took about two minutes for the cops to arrive. Then this idiot has to explain exactly what he was doing (I didn't get to hear his explanation because the cops seperated us because he kept yelling threats at me) and he is parked the way he was when there were some open spots nearby.

In the end, the cops thanked me, I explained what happened, I didn't press charges out of respect for my grandpa, and I didn't get arrested for assualt. And then as I was driving home I realized that people who go around looking for trouble like that must really hate themselves and they just want to drag others into their mess. I am finally starting to learn how not to get dragged in with them.

Okay, my adrenaline is down a bit, thanks for the ear...

It's good to hear you didn't fall for the trap and do something stupid. I wonder what the deal is with road rage in parking lots?

You disrespectful young rumpfed scallion, that was me!

That "girl" had just stolen my groceries! My weekly prune juice, grape nuts cereal, Folger's Special Moments Raspberry Nut coffee grounds, Reader's Digest (extra large print), Miller High-Life half rack ... all gone because you were being "nice." Your grandpa obviously didn't teach you that much, smarty pants.

Yes, but was the girl cute and did she thank you? Ultimately that's all that matters, right?

Maybe he was just pissed because he kept trying to get parking spots and the idiots in those cars were ****ing with him for no good reason.

Not possible. If it was and LeGrouper had assaulted him...not jury in College Station would have convicted him. :)

Way to go, LG! You rock!

This is embarrassing, but the above distinctly brings this to mind :

    "Are you threatening me!?!"

Thats exactly what I thought as well. I thought Le was going to end up with a super fine hottie thanking him and then ultimately hooking up.

You guys have to be kidding. I hate it when guys try to act like the are rescuing some girl. That isn't why I asked the guy to stop honking. I was getting tired of hearing the damn horn. I also felt bad for the girl but I have seen way too many times when some guy tries to step into a situation where he doesn't belong and he makes a complete jacka$$ out of himself trying to be prince charming. It is usually in a bar when a couple is arguing and toughguy steps in to ask the girl "Is this guy bothering you?".

I don't even know if the girl was hot or not, she was chillin in her car and I was more concerned that gramps might pull a 9 on me. I mean I think this dude was coming down from the pipe. He was shaking violently.

But on a lighter note, I got about 10 shots bought for me tonight because Slocum got fired. I got into a fight with one of the wrecking crew (Don't worry, it was just a DB) two years ago and Slocum showed up in court with the guy in some sort of lame attempt to influence the judge. I obviously haven't been a big Slocum fan since then. Not to mention the fact that he has his head up his hiney hole.

Ah yes, the adventures of Northgate. Boy am I glad I live on South Side. Everything is so peaceful over here. When I lived over there this past summer, I couldn't understand how people live there. Drunk people stumbling accross the street and through the dorms, honking horns, shouting matches, the occasional fight, it all got annoying pretty fast.

Anyways, I too was gonna ask if the chick was hot and if you got her digits because you said it was your first good decision. I don't think there is anything wrong with guys stepping in to rescue a girl, it just depends on the situation. Like you mentioned the arguing couple and an idiot stepping in and saying, "is this guy bothering you?" That is dumb, but if a girl is getting attacked by a group of thugs who want to rape her, well stepping in an laying the smack down like Spider-man is a good thing because then you get upside down kisses;) If an unknown girl doesn't have enough cash to pay something, you shouldn't help if she is more than 5 bucks short because there is no gurantee that your investment will pay off. Now, if a girl was kidnapped by some dude who's illegal operation you had tried to stop and he uses her as bait to get you, well, that is a time when you need to do the whole rescue thing. See where I'm going with this, it's all in the situation.

In your case, I would have thought it'd be cool if the girl waited for you to so that she could thank you. But of course you flee the scene and then save her a 2nd time so that she can thank you with an upside down kiss;). . .yes, I just got the Spiderman DVD.

The good decision wasn't that I helped a hot girl. It was that I didn't get riled and beat the crap out of gramps. I have hostility issues and have had a lot of trouble in the past. There is a reason I am 25 and just finishing my undergrad degree. Today was the first time that it occured to me that I could actually call the police and let them deal with the trouble.

To be honest with you, if this girl would have come up to me thinking that I was hitting on her by asking a crazy old man to stop honking his horn I would have thought she was a little egotistical. I'm not so desperate that I need to beat up old men to impress girls. Yeah, if I saw some girl getting beat down I would lend her the holy fooking hand grenade but I think that more often than not, guys try to step into situations they don't belong in than ones they do.
