guys, listen to this. I'm mad over this. I bought my car on the 11th and my insurance was $229 a month for full coverage and that was cheap with my age and lack of driving experience. I buy the car, get the insurance, and I get a letter today saying it went up over $41 and I was on a tight budget as it was! Now I don't know what I'm going to do! Does this sound outrageous to anyone else???
You should always look into what your insurance company quote will be..with full coverage the price is always changeing, some cars are more stolen than others also if you were in a van and go to a 2 door coupe it will up the price..lots of little things change the price...Have you taken defensive driving?. for 50.00 you can get that 10-15% off and its good for three year, even if you get a ticket you can still take it again to wipe the ticket out. Hope that helped..
My insurance went up over 50% a month for seemingly no reason a while back (I didn't change cars. I didn't have any ticket activity or wrecks or other claims. I didn't add any drivers. Nothing changed except the amount they decided to charge me). I ended up switching companies and now get insurance cheaper than my original rate.
Didn't you upgrade from a $1000 POS to a $7,000 car?? If so, that would explain it. Anyone else have USAA Insurance?? They are totally awesome. For our house, and 3 cars, we pay about $280 a month. Plus, each year, they usually send us about $200 back once they do their year end profit review.
Looney Toon -- man, that sucks..i'm sorry. one piece of advice...once you find the insurance company you think is best...best rate, coverage, etc...stick with it. you build up credit with them over time, and their rates go down considerably. i've been with state farm since i was 16. same agent, even. even though state farm is generally regarded as more expensive, even the discount guys can't beat the rates my wife and i are at with state farm by now. i mean, they're not even close. my wife and i pay a total of $165/month for car insurance. when i price that around, i can't find anyone withing $50 of it.
Unless it's Farmer's, apparently, who, like I said, raised my rates 50% for no apparent reason after I was with them for over six years (even calling them could not provide an answer for why my rates went up).
