So I parked on the street last night (Sunday) at around 11PM in an area that is meter parking from 8AM-9PM (Monday-Sunday). I was planning on moving the car at around 7:45AM this morning.

This is the sign I saw when I parked the car last night:

Well it wasn't snowing, and I just noticed this morning (when the car was gone!) that the word "OR" after "APR 1" was covered up with a sticker.

What are my chances of getting my $160 back because of this?

I think you just spent $160 to learn a lesson...

Understood, but it's not like the "OR" was covered up in the middle of the sentence or was obviously covered up. It was covered up at the end of the line and it could easily have read "No parking 3AM-7AM Dec 1-Apr 1 when snow is over 2 inches"

The same chance that it snows in hell.

Umm, it says no parking 3 am to 7 am. If you parked at 11pm and planned to move it at 7:45, your car was there during the 3-7 am period. Am I misreading the sign?

Right, but it wasn't snowing, nor was there any snow on the ground.

Although putting the stickers on the sign and taking the picture was a good idea, I doubt they'll fall for it.

But there is like a long space between the first part and the bit about Dec-Apr and snow. Were there other cars?

There is a space after the first part, but that space isn't long enough to fit the word "When"...there were lots of other cars, in fact it was the only spot I could find on the street, and I had to parallel between two others. Then again, this was on a busy street, even at night.

I'm not going to read your thread.

Only relevant facts are that your car got towed.

Chances of you getting reimbursed no matter what the contents of this thread are: Unlikely.

First, let me ask who exactly do you think is going to reimburse you? The towing company surely isn't going to give you that money back unless you take them to small claims. Do you expect the city to bail you out at tax dollar expense?

Be like the rest of us. Read the sign clearly. If you can't, find one that isn't vandalized or simply don't park there. Quit playing the victim.

Sorry you are confused, I've just never heard of someone who had their car towed and got the money back, regardless of the reasons they gave.

If people can get out of speeding tickets after the fact, why not towing expenses?

Dude it was only $160 to get it back? Probably easier to pay it and not deal with the hassle. Towing charges in SF are $475. No lie. F this place.

I think you have to go by the phrase: "Ignorance of the law is no excuse"

Just move on....you got snow jobbed !!

Your chances are similar to that of the poster who thanked God that Mila Kunis is single again, I believe he also thinks he has a chance. BTW I would have placed those stickers on the 'no parking'.

Yeah I was actually surprised it was that low. This was in Chicago, about 3 miles from downtown, in Wicker Park.
