I have a 2003 Lexus GS300 that I bought 2 weeks ago. One problem that I seem to be having with the car is that the car accelerates EXTREMELY slow from stop. When I stop at a red light, it takes the car forever to accelerate. The acceleration gets better as the speed increases. Is this a common issue with a GS300, or should I get my car checked out by Lexus? Also, is there something I can put in from Autozone or something to help (assuming it is not a mechanical issue) ?
maybe this thread was opened so you could brag on about owning a lexus. i own a sh!tbox. it takes off good.
Do you have your parking brake on? Seriously though, I was thinking fuel filter, but 2003 is still new, does it have a lot of miles?
"Extremely slow" at takeoff? Isn't the GS300 a sport sedan? How many hbp do you have under the hood? I imagine you have plenty of power that would help your acceleration. On the other hand, are you expecting Ferrari-like acceleration from 0-60 and therefore anything slower is "exremely slow"?
2 weeks after purchasing and already having problems? tell me you test drove the car before you bought it.
dude your car sucks. i don't understand you. seriously. you go off on lexus is good b/c of the waranty. well genius, use it. and watch some jeopardy today, haha.
maybe it could be a cylinder problem...? my gfs car accelerates extremely slow and come to find out only 3/4 cylinders are working properly. somethin like that
I had similar problems due to buildup in some of the pipes. That car was over ten years old though, I wouldn't think that would be a problem in a newer car.
Ha! When I'm back fron Kentucky, I'll probably take it down to the dealer at some point. Only problem is that the car is in Bryan and the closest dealer would be in Houston. I don't want to drive 90 miles to a dealer if there is nothing wrong. As long as it doesn't bug me too much, I'll probably just wait until I am in Dallas again.
Once my car wasn't accelerating properly. I couldnt figure out why, and then I realized the car mat was lodged near the accelerator, and was impeding the movement of it. I felt like a fool.
I just had a similar problem with the soccer mom car I drive - a Lexus RX300. The problem was the "coil packs". It would be plugs and points in a regular car. They are about $ 100.00 each changed at the dealer. I needed 3. I had to go to the dealer to get the diagnosis and the service. Tried the corner mechanic first but he couldn't get the codes.
