On Teusday I awoke with a peculiar sore throat. No big deal, I had a few, three, four Heinekins the night before at a BBQ. I also had been painting a whole bunch into the late nite to get ready for a show coming up and well, I just hadn't been getting my rest.
Wednesday the same thing only a bit more worse sore throat, finding it very hard to swallow my food or even my spit! Ahh, its just a thang, it'll go away, I thought. That nite I went with a friend to Fry's to buy computer crap and just felt really tired and run down. I was REALLY hard to swallow my dinner. Later that nite, I found it really hard to sleep because of my throat hurting so much. I even had a little spit bucket next to my bed I was so tired of swallowing the pain.
4th of July, felt like absolute crap~! I could even swallow without it feeling like glass. OUCH! I gargled warm salt water all day and stayed on the sofa sleeping, waking, hurting, spitting. I had 1 bowl of soup all day, nothing more. That nite trying to sleep was the pits!!!! I woke up at least a half dozen times with the pain of my throat just being too much. Damn, somethings wrong!
Today, attmepted to go to work but lasted only 1 hour. I called my stupidass healthcare provider doctor, but they couldn't see me until 3 that afternoon! OK, what could I do? Drink some water, gargle, take some asprin and wait for 3O'clock to roll around.
When I got to the doctors office, they told me they had to verify my insurance, apperantly, my Health Insurance card, Drivers License, and SS#, weren't enough for them to trust that I am me and I do have insurance. They wanted to hear it from United Healthcare themsleves. OK, well noone was there because its a freakin long weekend holiday. I had to pay out of pocket which was a minimum $120bucks and cash or check of which I had neither.
BASTARDS!!!! You mean, I have the best insurance my company has to offer for over 3 years, never have used it once because yes, I am healthy and work on staying that way, and I can't even use it when I am in freakin hell of pain! MFers!!!
SKREW EM, I tought. I went downstairs and checked myself into the Emergency Room. They saw me after about 30 minutes. Because of the severe swelling of my right tonsil, the nurse told me I had something else that forms a large puss ball in your throat and needs to be drained with a syringe. Wonderful...
It was about 20 till 5 and suprisingly the Ear, Nose, Throat doctor in the same building said he'd be down in 10 minutes to see me.
Well, fortunatetly he immediately saw it wasn't what the nurse thought, but just to be sure they would try and syringe the tonsil and see if any puss would draw out. Damn, they numbed it with some spray on stuff much like a free-on can, and in went the syringe.
I don't know if I was delirious, desperate or what but it was only a sharp pain, nothing more. He tried twice but no puss came out so it was only...
Peritonsillorcellulitis. (Yeah I may have misspelled it) something similar to tonsilitis but not quite.
Because I hadn't eaten in two days, they hooked me up with some good 'ol I.V. stuff for dehydration and some anitbiotics and the ever popular steroids for swelling (NO not THOSE kind of steroids, these were only for inflammatory type stuff).
Took about 4 hours in a hospital room, but let me tell you...
the nurses in the ER were awesome, understanding, compassionate and caring. The doctor that came down at 20 minutes before 5 on a Friday was a wonderful person, he even stuck around after I got the I.V. going to make sure I was cool. These people were wonderful. God Bless them and their sh!tty job in the ever hectic and, to me, depressing place of an Emergency Room. Nothing but suffering in those places, HOW DO THEY DO IT?!
BTW, I walked away without no hassle about my insurance card and my co-pay was only 50bucks for an ER visit.
So I'm on a liquid diet for 7 days as if my tonsils were taken out, no Heinekins for at least 10 and I got some liquid anitbiotics and liquid painkiller (oooh, Oily is gonna sleep gooood tonite!:D).
I already feel sooo much better, damn them steroids are awesome!
This is the longest anything I've ever written in the BBS, I just feel so damn grateful for those people in the ER room and who else would I share this experience with 'cept my BBS brothers & sistas!

Peace out and stay in good health!:)

dude - how many times do I have to tell you to quit playing tonsil hockey with those streetwalkers? :D

Hope you feel better man - I HATE going to the doctor/dentist. Nothing against the docs/dentist/nurses - I just hate the HMO's and the PAIN that a needle and drill give.

Sorry to hear that, I hope you feel better...I know that when you don't feel good everything else is bothersome...Get rest. Seriously, try to stay off the computer for a while (or at least a little while.)
