I going to say it here, right now. Do not trade Eddie Griffin this off season. I think Rudy T was holding him back, because Rudy T is not a very good teacher. I think that with a new coach coming in it is like a brand new start for EG. Larry Brown or JVG or whoever we have coaching next year is going to turn him into some one special. EG has allways shown us flashes of greatness, but looks like he has a lack a confidence. I think that is Rudy T's fault for not motivating his players enough. I still think EG is our 3rd best player on the Rockets. He is great at defense and in time will be a great rebounder. EG needs to be a bigger part of this team, needs more touches, more shots, and his teammates need to trust him. Watch out for a breakout season in 2004.

We'll see. If not, trade him to the Clippers for Elton Brand! :D

No question I would like Elton Brand on the Rockets. Scary thing is Eddie Griffin has just as much talent and potential if not more than Brand did at the same age. Only thing EG is missing is CONFIDENCE, and that is the coaches problem.

Another thing that EG has in lazyness. One of the 610 radio personalities commented on him having another strenuous practice yesterday where he jacked up a couple of 3s and went home. Looks like he is going to really work on his game this offseason.

Rudy wasn't known for his teachings, but more for his ability of getting the best out of his veterens. Rudy gave us a championship because he was the coach the Rockets were looking for. One that would give his team a chance to have some fun and just play.

Now with Steve, Cat, and Griffin, he tried using the same philosophy with them, but they aren't the same type of players that Hakeem and Clyde were. They have abused his style, and are worse off for it.

I'm hoping for Brown to come and coach the Rockets. He's a teacher and a stern coach, something that needs to be established for a bunch of "kids."

Griffin will not be traded, if we were going to trade him, we would have done it back when Atlanta was offering Shareef.

    You're right that is bold.

I think this thing about EG not developing because Rudy T is not a good teacher is bull****. What about Kenny Thomas, he developed just fine. Eddie is lazy and has no desire to get better, period.

Are you got to be kidding? When Elton Brand was 20, he was 20ppg and 10 rebs and co rookie of the yr. Where in the hell did you get that at the same age they were equal talents?

I honestly believe that EG will improve tremendously given the right attention. This is a kid that played one year of college ball and was such a hot commodity that he entered the NBA draft as a lottery pick. You can't just dismiss his potential. He was 19 when he started this league and now he's 21. He's a young man in need of good adult direction and I feel RT had some failure in that. I maintain this feeling that if we were to trade EG away, it would come back to bite us in the ass in a big way some day.

If eddie Griffin shot 200 ft line jumpers, and 300 jump hooks, he would easily avg 13pts per game. If anyone has seen him shooting beyond that, he needs his ass kicked.

Larry Brown reportedly got the poster boy for wasted talent and laziness (Derrick Coleman) to actually play with some heart, hustle and desire. If we can get Brown as coach, hopefully he can do the same thing for EG.

DC actually played his best ball under Paul Silas...IMO.

I would like to think that but I think Eddie is depressed and therefore uses pot to make his life more bearable + with deep money pockets quality and quantity are not a problem (aka maintains a constant stone). Unfortunately, pot has a mellowing (aka lazy) side-effect. He needs to fix the problem and get off the weed to realize his "potential".

Thats what i was about to say crash and thats something i don't understand. Silas has helped davis become a all star, mashburn a all star, Magloire a solid center and even help Dc have his best yr since early in his career, but all everyone wants to talk about is Brown and how he's good with teaching. I think the Rockets will be sorry if they don't hire silas

    My bold prediction:

Griffin gets traded, grows up\matures over the next couple of years, develops a solid work ethic & a well-rounded game, and becomes a "2nd tier" star.

    A 17 pt\12 reb\3 block per game finesse combo F.

Did Brown draft and trade EG's cousin before he could develop?

Don't get me wrong, I am a Brown fan and hope the Rockets hire him.

Paul Silas is a very good and underrated coach IMO though and would make a good choice if we selected him. Like you I think Coleman, Eddie Jones and Jamal Mashburn all had their best years under him. I also think he has done an exellent job with Baron Davis and Magloire.

But I still beleive that Brown would be the best selection.
