    Hello all:

I am the rhythm guitarist in a band called Banana Blender Surprise. We hav some shows lined up thius weekend.

Continental Club in Austin Thursday and Friday nights.

Continental Club in Houston on Saturday nights. That night is a live recording.

We'll play from 10:00 - 2:00, no breaks, no openers. I think you have to be 21 to get into the Continental, I could be wrong about that, though.

    We have a website

    www.bananablendersurprise.com

    as does the Continental

    www.continentalclub.com

We used to play around Texas full time at the Black Cat, Antones, Continental, Satellite, Rockefellers, Lucky Burger and so forth, but now we get togther sporadically to play some shows in Texas. This weekend is one of those Banana Blender weekends for me. It's hard to hang much at the shows for me -- i get a little tweaky before shows -- but tip me off if you're coming -- it would be a stitch to meet anyone.

Music and sports don't mix -- see: Kenny Smith Justin Timberlake Fiasco -- so I probably will not wear my authentic Chucky Brown Rocekts Jersey, nice as it is.

    You get the idea ...

    have a good weekend everyone

    hell, I've seen you before.

    I'm there.

I used to live right next door to Lucky Burger. Did you really play there? Is fromobile going to be there?

    CBFC --

Were you in Banana Blender Surprise back in the late 80s? I remember seeing y'all a few times back in the day. At a Lubel "Rock-Off" or something like that.

    Awesome band.

And tell me more about this hour with Spike! :D

Hey folks, sorry to be out oftouch -- flew to Austin from SF last night.

    To clarify:

    RR:
We're sort of a mix between Dionne Warwick and Creedence...well, not really. I just like any sentence that begins "We're a mix between..." Its sort of Texas Blues Rock with a little oldies, funk and Neil Diamond thrown in. We have three CD's all different... there's an albums worth on the website. Not very modern-rock, more roots-based, I suppose. Banana is a fairly entertaining live band.

    HP:

Lucky Burger is awesome, we totally played there. We used to hang out there -- el capitains and fish "filtes", etc -- all the time. One time, we were sitting in the restaurant and the former owner yacked this clear vomit all over the floor. His wife came and cleaned it up, and he just kept reading the paper. AWESOME place. By the way, HP, can you email me -- I don't have your address in Austin. Thanks.

    Wrath of Ricardo Montleban:
We were in high school when we played the 1989 KLOL Lubel Rock Off at the music hall with the Noys Boys, Etcetera Etc. and The Rest -- nice call.

Spike Lee story will come later...

    HP:
That pic is Conrad, Fromobile is my youngest brother Pierre -- I am at his house as we speak. He says hey. He just made a good album. On the Pics page of the Banana website, you will see Conrad and his Taurus.

Hope to see some of you there, let me know.

i just emailed you. if you don't get it, use the bbs email feature.

The Taurus picture is great. I saw it at CBFC.com. So, is conrad going to play in Houston or fromobile. And it just dawned on me, is that Taurus the " 'fro mobile " ... I know it says tantilizing on it, but is that referring to the spirit of the hair of the owner or what?

    <img src="http://www.flashlings.com/images/tantalizing.gif">

btw: Do you know any of the guys from Three Day Stubble? They moved to San Francisco awhile ago. I had to steal my wife from their lead singer when I first met her. They went to HSPVA together. Now she is holding Lyle Lovett over my head to keep my on my heals! hehe.

That is way too funny ... talk about Old School. I remember The Rest, also. That was a good show.

I doubt you would have, but did you ever hear of a band called the Avant Gardeners way back then? No reason ...

Very much looking forward to the Spike story...

FYI, I live in Philly now or I'd be at one of the shows. Good luck with the gigs.

Hey guys. I'll be there with my own brand of large hair. If you see me come talk my head off, we can talk Vernon Maxwell shop.

Conrad is the middle brother who had the tan and tantalizing Taurus, Tan-Talizing. I, fromobile, am the youngest. (My album is online at http://pierrechoucroun.iuma.com , if yer interested)

Go see this show, they are rad. Rudy T likes thier song "Barbeque".

    Wow!

Just got off the phone with heyschweetie...

"Oh yeah, I remember Banana Blender Surprise."

You know, with her backing, she's likely to get her entourage to tag along....ooolllala. I'll have to give you some pointers on Amanda.

and when I said you moved to the Bay area, she immediately said, "John Alderman."

goddammit...she's knocking me back on my heals, again!! I hate it when the girls remember past luuvvv interests.

    My wife has often said:

If we break up and you tell women that:

    a. You love cats.
    b. You have your massage therapy licence.
    c. You are a musician.
    d. You actually like HGTV.

you will have no problem finding women to love you.

I'm not buying it and I'm not going anywhere so what does it matter? :D
