I think it was Sromile Swift. He really shines in an uptempo game or when there is "real" movement on offense (ie his memphis days)
I think whn Luther came in the 4th, the game changed for the Rockets. We got what we expect from Yao and Tmac.
He should have already been starting....Howard hasnt had one impressive performaces this year and even though we dont look for that from him, Stro is the one with the huge upside. I also like the way he and Yao work together and feed off each other.
As I said before, Stro seems to get better the more he's on the court with these guys, his biggest problem now is that he's not really figured out yet what his role is, and that's mostly just part of the overall team confusion that everyone is caught in. Once he starts to 'get it', he will be a pretty valuable piece. I am still holding out hope for Alston, but he too will have to figure out his role, and he will need to attack the interior like he did in Toronto to use his speed and penetration to his advantage. He's not a spot-up shooter and shouldn't be utilized as such. If we want a spot-up shooter, then turn Head into our starting PG, and trade Alston for a SG or bring him off the bench. Also, Swift must not only start, but also get at least 30 minutes a night if at all possible at the PF/C position (mix things up as is necessary to adapt to matchups). I am convinced that more than anything else, this kid needs to be coached and taught the game, he needs someone to invest in him and not just brush him aside whenever he struggles, and I don't think anyone has ever done that for him yet, hope JVG doesn't make the same mistake once more.
Tonights game was a team effort. Tmac was back to his incredible self. What was even more encouraging is how he hopped right up after taking several charges. My heart stopped for a second when he did it. Luther Head stepped up, Derek Anderson had a quiet 17 points and Stromile looked like he was "getting it" on defense, which was big.
for him not to get the ball swiped from him 5 times a game and to dominate SAR/ B.Miller (not shot blockers)
I think my favorite offensive play of that game was when Yao totally held Brad Miller to clear out the baseline for a TMac dunk. Did you guys catch that one? So I give Yao my MVP of the game award for doing the dirty jobs.
1) His turnover avg is OK for a player that touches the ball as much as Yao (McGrady avgs more turnovers) 2) Yao shoots 49% the highest on our team. Your'e gonna stop giving him the ball? 3)Yao is NOT going to signifacantly improve from here on out. Expect around 20pts & 9 reb a game. Nothing more. What's wrong with that? You guys are expecting TOO much, acccept Yao for the player he is.
word, I don't think Stromile deserves a lot of MVP for the games he played this year but he definitly does for this game...played a great game and was active on both aspect of the game.
