With the season past the halfway mark and teams looking toward the play-offs, some of the award-candidates are beginning to take shape. In terms of this season's MVP, I think as of right now its between Iverson and Webber.

Both players have led their respective teams to among the top in the league, though neither were projected to do this good (especially Sac) The way things are going, Iverson may edge out C-Webb on the basis of his unbelievable individual performances, as well as to add on to his all-star MVP. But at the same time you cannot ignore Webber's numbers. To me, its pretty much a dead-even race.

Of course, guy's like Shaq, Duncan, Kobe and others still have a chance, but I'm pretty confident this year's winner will be a first-timer.

In a perfect world, Francis would win MVP, Mobes would win the 6th man of the year (after going back to the bench), Dream would take Most Improved and Shandon would proclaim Defensive Player of the year honours. Oh, and if Dan Langhi and Jason Collier aren't named the Co-Rookies of the Year, I swear I'll scream conspiracy! [IMG] But a perfect world it a'int.

I think that either iverson or Webber will take it.

They are both playing for teams that were before written off as overrated.

Because if it was, you would have said isn't.

Webber was my MVP going away, but over the last month I think Iverson not only caught up to him, but PASSED him! Iverson is scoring like crazy AND helping his team win! It used to be, if Iverson scored 40, the team lost or won by 1 or 2 points because he took shots away from teammates. Now he is dominating in a team system. He's my MVP so far this year. And I think he'll get the 76ers to the Eastern conference Finals, and they'll have their hands full with the Knicks. Even though Miami and Milwaukee are super dangerous!

The Kings can still score points without Webber. Subtract Iverson from the Sixers, and we'd be looking at a team averaging 79 points per game. Allen Iverson is the Sixers, and they would be hanging around with the Bulls without him.

I think the MVP will come down to either Iverson or Webber. Probably Iverson.

IMO, the most improved award seems to be the closer race. Here are some candidates:

    Shawn Marion
    Baron Davis
    Steve Nash
    Peja Stojakovich
    Brian Grant
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Jason Terry
    Rashard Lewis
    Antawn Jamison
    Jamal Mashburn

All these guys improved tremendously this year, especially the first seven on the list.

I would probably give it to Baron Davis, but that's just me. Everyone on that list could make a good case for the award.

I couldn't give the most improved award to Baron Davis or Steve Nash. Both of those guys played well, but injuries are the only thing that hurt them. They are playing on the level they would have played on last year minus injuries. Same with Jamison. Predrag Stojakovic has a SERIOUS case. I think Jason Terry is just getting used to the NBA, thus his improvement. Shawn Marion has a serious case for most improved playing as well!

I am surprised no one has mentioned it by now, but I think KG can still make some noise in this race. The guy is the sole reason the Wolves are not in the cellar right now talking to themselves and cursing David Stern for ruining their immediant future. I predict that KG will win MVP at least once in the future... he is so young.

But I suppose if the award was given out today, I would likely go with Iverson as well.

Iverson is the league mvp at this point. Of course, if the kings start to pick up their play and/or the sixers start to fall off that may change.
