MBurns: NBA Mailbag re: Deke How is it possible that Dikembe Mutombo ranked second in annual salary ($18.8 million) in the NBA this season (The List, Nov. 12 notebook). I thought the Nets bought him out last year and then he signed with the Knicks. Please tell me that he doesn't make that much money. -- Eddie, Philadelphia Sorry, but it's true. Mutombo gets $4.5 million as part of the contract he signed last year with the Knicks plus an additional $14.3 million from his buyout with the Nets. If you listen closely late at night, when you've turned off your League Pass, you can hear the deep guttural laugh of the Cookie Monster all the way from Houston. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...w-?slug=cnnsi-nbamailbag&prov=cnnsi&type=lgns J
Of all the NBA players that gotten their millions, none is more worthy than Deke, his heart is just as big as Africa. I remembered when he asked for help from fellow NBA players for his hospital in Africa, they all acted so indifference and non helpful, that Deke said to heck with it and built the hospital himself.
Agree wholeheartedly. While others would use the 14 million for a new car or a bigger house Deke has used it to help the unfortunate people in Africa.
