What are the airlines thinking? A couple of Muslims have been recently kicked of from their flights. Crews and other passengers did not feel safe riding with them. A Pakistani business man and an Egyptian business man were kicked of for looking "middle eastern". Umm...yeah I am sure these guys wont file big time lawsuits
Me and my friends were planning of taking a vacation in January. I guess we aint going anymore. 10 brown people on the same plane is sure to cause headaches. I understand the fear people have, but maybe we should have learned something from the history of US. Discriminating based on skin color is just wrong. I wonder if all brown people stoped traveling via plane what the hell would happen to the airline industry. My dad takes a round trip from Houston to Dallas at least once in 3-4 weeks. I guess there goes his business to the airlines. IDIOTS!!!!!! On a separte note, I heard somewhere that a MEXICAN guy was kicked of from a plane. Now that is completely moronic!
Could you imagine how impressive it would have been if, after the atrocity 2 weeks ago, our country had NO incidences of hate, NO incidences were innocents were singled-out because of their appearance that was, coincidentally, similar to some extremists. We really missed an opportunity to exemplify some American ideals, some Human ideals. I will not let my values succumb to fear.
When has the country as a whole ever exemplified those ideals? Our country is diverse, yes. But, unfortunately, that diversity includes all the dumbasses too.
I can kind of understand both sides. It is DEFINITELY not right to treat people differently just because of their skin color. However, I have to admit that apparently, I am getting paranoid as well...a few days ago, I was on the bus towards a plane and there was this guy on the bus who looked almost exactly like one of these Taliban guys...long beard, kind of fanatic eyes...and then he had crutches with him, but didn't really use them...under his arms he seemed to be hiding some strange packages (I was thinking of these plastic explosives)...he also seemed to be acting in a strange way...the guy sat behind me on the plane - you can't imagine how many times I must have turned around to check what he was doing!!! Well, nothing happened, but I can definitely understand the fear of people after all that has happened - here in Germany, we have reports that there are at least 100 "sleepers" in Germany, muslim terrorists who lead a normal life and when they get the order, they are ready to execute a suicide attack. Thinking about that can really make you paranoid. This year alone, I have already taken about 90 flights at least, a few intercontinental ones and I definitely feel more nervous when I have "arabic looking people" on the plane. Sorry to say that - it is just a feeling, I can't do anything about it. I really do not have anything against them in general. I just get more worried when I board a plane.
Sure those feelings will come, but would you have kicked the guy off if you had the power? People can be really disappointing sometimes. I for one wouldn't be too paranoid because of common sense. A. If, or when, another attack occurs I doubt it will be the exact same thing. 2. I would think that it would be pretty hard to hijack a plane right after what happend and how serious security is right now. Think about it, if the pilots on a plane were suspicious of these guys because of their ethnicity, you think the people at security did a half ass check of the luggage and passenger. They didn't make it to that point by arriving 5 minutes before take off. Lastly it would be pretty pointless to attempt the same thing when everyone on board knows the final outcome and would do WHATEVER it takes to prevent it from coming to pass.
Has Rockets03 been kicked off a plane because of his skin color? Have you? You two understand but I don't? Alrighty... All 19 terrorists on the planes were Arabic, everyone arrested in connection with this crime has been Arabic as far as I know, and you're seriously surprised that people are scared to fly on a plane with Arabic people? Should these people be just as afraid sitting next to an African-American or an Asian-American? Quite obviously not.
How would you react if you were kicked off of a plane because of your skin color? I know I wouldn't be cool with that, but you're making it sound like you think it's okay for people to be kicked off of planes because of their skin color. This is America, right? I didn't realize that people of Arabian descent could get kicked off of planes just because of their skin color. Will they not be allowed in certain restaurants next?
I guess Timing would have been fine if all of the white people were not allowed in government buildings anymore, I mean they'd have to understand the fear that some people have of white people blowing up government buildings...
This just makes me sad. I can understand the fear people have in these circumstances, and I will admit that I would probably be jumpy myself. I don't think fear is something anyone can really control. But people can control how they respond to their fear. Rather than succumb to irrational solutions (like banning anyone who isn't pigment-challenged from airplanes), we should use this situation to rise above our human weaknesses.
Listen to how dumb you sound. Arabs are a small minority in the US. When many people from a small minority group are involved in the worst terrorist attack in history, it's not surprising to see a backlash against that small minority. It's not necessarily right, but it's human nature and to be expected. If 100 Arabs are suspected of killing 5,000 people in a restaurant then you probably will see Arabs being asked to leave restaurants. I suspect all white people of crimes, they are the devil.
