It doesn't get any better than the 3 week stretch in November/December that i'm in for. Pearl Jam in a 60-70,000 seat open air arena on Nov 20 in Melbourne. Green Day Dec 13 at Rod Laver Arena Melbourne. The excitement is palpable ... Have seen PJ 3 times already, will be first seeing Green Day. Sexy!!
I agree- overall very good. And whether you like it or not, someone calling it a POS is really immature and doesn't say anything. Nothing wrong with saying, "Don't like it- too mellow for me-" or whatever. Calling it garbage or POS-stupid.
I agree. Both albums are pretty damn awful in their own rights. And btw no stadium concerts will ever be the site of any potential Great Music Encounter. Try getting a pass to SXSW in Austin if you're ever curious. Not Lollapalooza, or Coachella, or Burning Man, or even Bonnaroo although they do certainly try hard. I have not been but I would love to go to All Tomorrow's Parties in England.
Previous 3 PJ shows were indoors at Rod Laver (15 - 17,000 seaters) This will be a change up - but I would love a PL show at ANY venue.
nothing better than seeing shows by bands you love... For me, nothing could top getting to see Beck, the Pixies and Radiohead in the same day Enjoy
<br> It's a POS for me, given the expectations. I don't have a problem with anyone liking the album, or even considering it good. Hell, it could be a good album to every other person in the world. It just happened to greatly disappoint me, thus my thinking that it was a POS. How exactly does that make me stupid??
Man, you are the winner. Through in Super Furry Animals and Flaming Lips and that would be my ultimate festival.
i dont know how to explain it. but its the way i feel. but seeing a band when they start out is nice. seeing green day when they have been playing music for 20 years is not what i like. i promise you in a lot of ways they are not really enjoying what they are doing. its mostly for the money.
Green Day has sucked for about 10 years now, but there is no denying the brilliance of who they where, what they did, and most importantly, in the time that they did it. Say what you will about them, there is something respectable about being that influential, and having that longevity. Even if all the copies they inspired sucked, that doesn't detract from the original. It's like, Tool basically started the modern vein of alt-metal (that gave us Chevelle, Trust Company, Linkin Park, Staind, etc.) which I can't stand, but that doesn't mean Tool is any less amazing.
Pixies are always great live. My best day (for bands I was really into at the time) was Lollapalooza 93. Tool on the Sidestage - Primus, Dino Jr., Alice In Chains, RATM, and Fishbone on the big.
