Doesn't have to be a current artist or band - could be someone like Miles Davis or the Howlin' Wolf, for example.

For me, it is the following:

    Japan
    Ultravox
    Siousxie and the Banshees
    Iggy and the Stooges

Also, a little bit but not as much as the ones mentioned above:

    Kansas
    Free
Traffic (also includes Steve Winwood solo stuff)
    The Charlatans UK

Josh Pyke has been my latest discovery

After I saw Into the Wild I really got into the soundtrack by Eddie Vedder's - still doing major rotations in playlist.

Radiohead-liked them in the early 90's, lost touch with them, but picked them back up. Their most recent album (In Rainbows) is incredible.

Really been digging some of Kanye's new beats like "Heartless" and "Love Lockdown". Those two singles alone have me considering actually purchasing his album.

I've always been a real big fan of Akon, nothing too specific but Keri Hilson's "Mic Check" has some nice beats from Akon.

I've recently been alternating between punk bands like Rancid, Social Distortion, the BC Scottish Punk band The Real McKenzies.

I'm seriously going to participate in a Manny Ramirez music thread... this is awesome. :D

I was just introduced to an artist by the name of Apache Indian. The guy's been around since the early 1990's, but doesn't get play here I guess. He did the song Boom-shack-lack on Dumb and Dumber and Scooby Doo 2 soundtracks.

He's an Indian guy, raised (born?) in England, who sings reggae... to Indian banghra music. Wth? I really like some of his newer stuff like Belly Dancing (and other cuts off the Sadhu soundtrack) and "duet" with Dalvinder Singh.

It's not for everybody, but it was so "different" I had to check it out. Here's one where he sings with Desmond Dekker in a remake of the great "Israelites" reggae hit :

    Delta Spirit.

Saw them for the first time at ACL. They were fantastic. Sort of a Southern Rock from California thing. I can't wait for the show in Austin @ Emo's on the 22nd.

    Redbone: The Essential Redbone

Redbone was a Native American rock group that was most active in the 1970s. They reached the top 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1974 with the song, "Come and Get Your Love".

Redbone played primarily rock music with R&B, Cajun, Jazz, tribal, and Latin roots. Their first commercial success came with the single "Maggie" from their second album, Potlatch, in 1970, and two other hit singles followed - "The Witch Queen of New Orleans" (1971, #21 on the Billboard Hot 100) and "Come and Get Your Love" (1974, #5 on the Billboard Hot 100).

Lolly Vegas was one of the first guitarists to make extensive use of the distinctive Leslie rotating speaker effect in his electric guitar amplification setup. Vegas played improvised, jazz-influenced guitar. Drummer Peter DePoe (born 1943, Neah Bay, Washington) is credited with pioneering the "King Kong" style of drumming, which features sharply accented polyrhythms involving the bass and snare drums and is similar to funk styles of drumming. The band referred to DePoe's "King Kong Beat" in their lyrics to the song "Prehistoric Rhythm" on their debut album.
