I just went to allmusic and on their front page they had the announcement that British blues guitar legend, Gary Moore passed away this past Sunday. He was 58. Moore is probably not known to many around here but he was a very prolific player. More on this from allmusic: British blues guitarist Gary Moore died at age 58 on Sunday while vacationing in Spain. Moore started the blues-rock band Skid Row with Phil Lynott, who went on to found Thin Lizzy; Moore joined Lynott in the band for two stints, the latter resulting in 1979's Black Rose. He also worked on Lynott's 1980 solo album, but Moore was first and foremost a bluesman, playing with B.B. King, Albert Collins, Otis Taylor and John Mayall and issuing his own albums, including 1990's Still Got the Blues and 2008's Bad for You Baby. http://www.allmusic.com/ He played with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker in the short-lived group BBM (Bruce, Baker, and Moore) which got some press as you had 2/3 of Cream in this group. Moore had the inenviable position of trying to be "Clapton" but if you listen to their one album, "Around the Next Dream", he plays masterfully and it can be argued that he gives the best performance - not his more famous bandmates. RIP, Gary.
And the lineup for the Texas Jam with Rush as the headliner was.... Rush Ozzy Osbourne .38 Special Bryan Adams Gary Moore He had a song that was played on the radio a lot back then, "Don't Take Me for a Loser." Gary Moore was extremely impressive on guitar, and the crowd loved him. Bryan Adams was obnoxious and was deservedly booed, yelling out stuff like "C'mon, what's wrong with you guys??" because we weren't clapping (and then I saw him recently with Foreigner at the Woodlands and he was still obnoxious). .38 Special put on a terrific show. Ozzy Osbourne was obviously drunk and played less than 30 minutes. Rush was professional and terrific as usual.
