Queens of the Stone Age; Their first album that I purchased was "Songs for the Deaf", and have been a fan of their music ever sense. The follow-up to Songs for the Deaf was "Lullibies to Paralyze" which wasn't as good, but still had a few memorable songs. Naturally I decided to pick up their newest release "Era Vulgaris" when it came out about a month ago. Since then I have listened to it in my car almost non stop (about 10 times through). So far I have to say that this album is probably their most consistent album, with a series of great songs in a row. Although this band has changed alot of members since they started, with only the main guy, Josh Homme, intact.
Some on my more favored tracks are:
    "I'm Designer"
    "Misfit Love"
    "Suture Up You Future"
    "River in the Road"

I was wondering if anyone else here has listened to this album and if so what are their favorite tracks. Also can someone suggest other similar band to QoSA in the Stoner Rock Genre.

I have all of their CDs since R. I like em a lot. I've been listening to Era Vulgaris quite a bit recently. Well, mostly just I'm Designer and Turning on the Screw; I can't get enough of those two. Sick, Sick Sick, the single, is good also, of course. I really dig Make it Wit Chu, real cool, mellow song.

I haven't listened to the rest of the CD as much yet, so I'm not sure yet just how good the rest of it might be.

I wanted to find some other stuff like them, so seeing that Pandora thread, I went and typed in "I'm Designer", and the station it came up with has been playing some cool stuff. Just use QOTSA as the main criteria at Pandora, and you'll probably find some stuff you'll like.

What are your thoughts on "R"
From the reviews I've read online, this seems to be their best album. So I'm curious to know how does it compare to their other stuff.

It's pretty good. It fits right in with their subsequent albums. Although there's not as much material on there as with the later albums. I've downloaded it, and I can only seem to find the partial album wherever I've looked. It's kind of a short CD, a number of the songs are around 2 minutes are less and in some cases aren't really real songs.

One of their biggest singles is "The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret". Every QotSA fan should have that, or they're cheating themselves. Other recommended downloads: Auto Pilot, Monsters in the Parasol, Better Living Through Chemistry, In the Fade. If you like them, you should have all 5.

Stoner Rock: Fu Manchu, Monster Magnet, Kyuss.

Eagles Of Death Metal also features Homme on the first album. I like a lot better than QOTSA.
