I wonder if a thread here has ever been devoted to mash-ups. I bet it has happened, but oh well, they are getting better and more refined by the month. The one that inspired me to create this thread is a quite tidy mash-up btw R Kelly and Broken Social Scene (BSS not B&S to those of you in the know). The entire concept just seems like one big joke on Kanye to me. Rap over white-people music?!?! That's unpossible! Not all mash-ups work out in this way, but it's very effective.

Another good one combines a song called Aruarian Dance with Amerie's 1 Thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iCwr5AZHzE&feature=related . If you have heard this song before, there's a 90% chance you are Asian as it came off the Samurai Champloo anime soundtrack.

Finally, try out this mash-up of Beck and Lil' Jon feat. TLC. There's no video link for it, so just play the song here and you can even download the mp3 from this site: http://www.bass211.com/MX/comegetsomeloser.mp3

You're welcome to post your own favorites. But like I said, before you click SUBMIT think twice about your decision and make sure the song does not SUCK in actuality.

Whoever uploaded these videos aren't giving credit to the creators of this particular type of mash up. They mash up indie rock and rap. The group is called The Hood Internet and they arrived on the scene in late 2007. They are from Chicago, and they played about 5 sets during this years SXSW festival.

The Hood Internet releases their tracks for free on their blog. They used to release one or two new tracks every week. Their mashed up artwork is also as highly anticipated as their mash up songs.

I like these guys much more than say Girl Talk.

EDIT: What's hilarious is the guy who uploaded the video said he created it, when in fact The Hood Internet made this particular track.

Never heard of it. If it draws comparison to Gregg Gillis, then damn... gotta check this out.

I'm quite a mash-up noob, so this may bot exactly qualify but anybody heard 'the legion of doom'?

My favorite is 'Ebola in Memphis', its Norma Jean 'Memphis Laid Waste; vs. ETID 'Ebolarama'.

I don't really listen to mash up's, but I have a great mashup of Konflict's Messiah (classic drum & bass tune) vs Outkast's B.O.B. I don't know who did it or where I got it from, but I imagine this is what Andre 3000 originally tried to achieve with all of Outkast's drum & bass influenced songs. I can't find a clip online though.

This d&b mashup isn't bad...I guess it's homeade. Pendulum's (the most 'mainstream' d&b group right now) Hold Your Colour vs. 50 Cent's Ayo Technology.

I don't usually listen to "Dashboard Confessional" or anything emo-ish like that, but this mashup is pretty badass.
