Blubster works really well for music only.

 

I've never had any trouble at all with Kazaa Lite. In fact, I've never encountered a song I couldn't find if I turned the auto-search more option on. And I download software off of it frequently.

Just be sure you get an antivirus program and adaware just in case.

 

holy crap... this kazaa lite thingee really kicks assprin. just started using it today instead of winmx to put stuff on my ipod.

okay... i'm worried now. is this thing not safe or something or is it just the fact that some of the mp3's can have viruses?

 

I've never personally downloaded an mp3 with a virus on it, and I've downloaded somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 songs. However, I have talked to people who claim that you can. Kazaa does block .vbs files and other kinds of deceptive files that could be viruses.

The main thing you have to worry about is if you download software. In that case it's a lot more important to have an adware/spyware/virus protector just in case.

I'm personally not scared of viruses because you generally have to trigger them somehow, and there's usually a fix, or a least a way to ignore them. However, to the general public, I would definitely recommend having some kind of protection.

 

Have you tried Morpheous? I used to use that before Kazaa but not sure if it's still up.

 

Oh yeah you can also try newsgroups
