What are some of your favorite Music DVD's?

I just got "The Tomorrow Show - Punk & New Wave"

From Amazon: Hosted by Tom Snyder, this 2-DVD set captures explosive live performances and revealing interviews on DVD for the first time ever from the forefathers of the punk and new wave movement, such as: The Ramones, Elvis Costello, Iggy Pop, John Lydon (of The Sex Pistols and PiL), Joan Jett, The Jam, Patti Smith, The Plasmatics, and much more! Highlights Include: The Ramones fiery performance of "I Wanna Be Sedated" and "The KKK Took My Baby Away". An unforgettable verbal spat between John Lydon and Tom Snyder. Elvis Costello’s frenzied performance of "Watch Your Step". Iggy Pop’s offering of "TV Eye". Roundtable discussion between Joan Jett, Paul Weller (The Jam), Bill Graham and others regarding the current state of punk rock and much much more!

I also really like "Hype!", a documentary of the Seattle music scene. It has interviews and live footage with several bands, including Nirvana's first ever performance of "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

Pink Floyd: Live At Pompeii and the 2 Sex Pistols documentaries are pretty good as well.

    Which ones do you like?

GG Allin - Hated (could have been filmed/edited much better as a documentary, but was interesting just because of the footage of GG Allin being a total ****ing nutjob).
Fugazi - Instrument (not really a documentary. Lots of good performances).
The Decline of Western Civilization Part 1 - (awesome!)

Excellent taste in music. I see you are missing some great Hendrix videos. Rainbow Bridge Concert, Band of Gypsies and some rare European Television Shows.

    Enjoy

Excellent thread!!!! I don't claim to be an expert, but I have seen some awesome concerts on DVD.

    Just to name a few:

Neil Young: Rust Never Sleeps and Silver and Gold (from a concert in Austin) are both must have's

Van Halen: Live Without A Net (The Best Van-Haggar Conert on DVD)

Crosby Stills & Nash: The Acoustic Concert (Fantastic concert. The Sound is excellent)

Journey 2001: New singer sounds just like Steve Perry. All the hits on this one.

Eric Clapton: One More Song, One More Rider. There is NO BETTER Clapton Concert on DVD than this one!!!!

Queen: Concert At Wembly Stadium (No Queen DVD better IMHO)

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: High Grass Dogs-Live From The Fillmore (My Favorite)

The Eagles: Hell Freezes Over: Fantastic. Almost the entire Hotel California Album is performed on this DVD.

Paul McCartney-Back In The US Concert Film: If You're a Beatle Fan, You will love this DVD.

James Taylor-Live at the Beacon Theater- If you like James Taylor, this is a must have.

Rolling Stones-Live at the Max-Import DVD (German-Rare) The best Stones DVD I have seen.

No Idea what RMTex is talking about, but The Last Waltz is a fantastic Concert DVD.

Read the book. It's called "This Wheel's on Fire". Basically, the Last Waltz was a Robbie Robertson scheme from the get-go. He wanted to quit the Band, but wanted to disband the Band in the process, while the other members wanted to continue. Martin Scorceze and Robbie Robertson shot the film to make it look like Robertson was the leader and head honcho of the Band, when in reality it was a 100% collaborative effort between the five of them. Next time you watch the film, notice how much "background singing" Robertson does. In truth, Robertson can't sing a lick (ever heard his solo stuff....his voice is awful) and the stagehands turned off his microphone before the show started. Robertson never realized it. The one thing that killed the Band was Robbie Robertson's ego.
